Planets visited, moons observed
Sending images to our home world
Your mission has revealed a lot
To the primitive beings on the pale blue dot
You've sailed so far, and you're so near
To the edge of the heliosphere
So please deliver from planet Earth
Our message to the universe
We threw the smallest bottle in the largest sea
With sound and vision on a gold LP
Traversing interstellar space
An eternal record of the human race
After humankind has paid the cost
And all of our wars have been fought and lost
You'll be sailing towards the constellations
Bringing peace from every nation
The smallest bottle in the largest sea
Has sound and vision on a gold LP
Traversing interstellar space
An eternal record of the human race
When we've used up our final chance
Our gift to the stars will be song and dance
When all of life on Earth has gone
Distant worlds will hear our song
On Gliese 445 they'll sing
Of Johnny B. Goode and the Rite of Spring
We threw the smallest bottle in the largest sea
With sound and vision on a gold LP
Traversing interstellar space
An eternal record of the human race
We threw the smallest bottle in the largest sea
With sound and vision on a gold LP
Traversing interstellar space
An eternal record of the human race

Secret Identity
03:21
|
|||
|
I release the trolley
Inserting a one pound coin
I load the meat and vegetables
The rice and olive oil
I get tins of soup on special
They're cheaper when bought in a pair
And I smile as I greet the cashier who
Is blissfully unaware...
Of my secret identity, my secret identity,
My secret identity is close to my chest
My secret identity, secret identity,
Secret identity will never be guessed
And when the afternoon is dragging
But I'm meant to stay awake
I join the queue at Starbuck's for
Some caffeine and a cake
And the barista with pen in hand
Says "What is your name please?"
I open my mouth and hesitate
For I must not reveal
My secret identity, my secret identity,
My secret identity is close to my chest
My secret identity, secret identity,
Secret identity will never be guessed
I can tell that you think you're the one in whom
I'm finally going to confide
Well, can you keep a secret?
So can I!
And my secret identity, my secret identity,
My secret identity is close to my chest
My secret identity, secret identity,
Secret identity will never be guessed

When I Was In School
03:48
|
|||
|
When I was four years old I began my education
To learn about society and all its expectations
Learn to read and write, to add and multiply,
Eat my greens and not to answer back and not to cry
I learned how to spell, and how to long divide
How to run around a field far too many times
How to pay attention and how to follow rules
That's what they taught me when I was in school
I took my exams and I passed
But there's more I wish I'd learned in class
Like How to put up shelves without nailing through a cable
How to read instructions to set up a flatpack table
How to deal with bullies when they're frightening and cruel
No-one told me these things when I was in school
Willy, Willy, Harry, Ste, Harry, Dick, John, Harry Three
I learned about the Normans and I saw the Bayeux Tapestry
I learned that Jean-Paul Marat died in his bath,
I learned that zinc and copper are the metals that make brass.
I took my exams and I passed
But there's more I wish I'd learned in class
Like How to put up shelves without nailing through a cable
How to read instructions to set up a flatpack table
How to deal with bullies when they're frightening and cruel
No-one told me these things when I was in school
And though your school days are through
You can still learn a life skill or two
Like please don't block the doorway after entering a shop,
No-one wants to hear the gory details of your op,
Dig into the evidence don't assume the worst
Everything's more complicated than it looks at first
If a politician said it then it's probably not true
Remember that everything is not all about you
Still no-one gets to tell you how you have to live your life
It's up to you if you want children and a wife
No-one's ever argued on the internet and won
Remember that your hobbies are just a bit of fun
Sing as loud as you like, use your two left feet and dance,
Every human being deserves an equal chance
Shout it from the rooftops, break all the rules,
No-one told me these things when I was in school
No-one told me these things when I was in school

Trans Neptunian Objects
03:18
|
|||
|
For almost a century Pluto was
A planet, one of the nine
It had a sort of unusual orbit
But still they all got on just fine
But one day because of its size, they said
That's no planet, is it?
Then they decided to send New Horizons
To pay the dwarf a visit
Pluto was understandably miffed
To have been taken down a peg
And as the spacecraft did its flypast
This is what Pluto said,
I never wanted to be in your gang,
Even though you think you are so cool,
But we're the Trans Neptunian Objects and
There's more of us than of you
There's Eris and Sedna, Lempo, Varuna,
Gonggong and Niku and Drac,
Ixion, Orcus and Rhadamanthus
And thousands of others like that
I don't need to be part of your club
Me and my moons are okay
Charon, Styx, Hydra, Kerberos, Nix
We're happy out here with our mates
You can call me whatever you like
It's hardly sticks and stones
But we're the Trans Neptunian Objects and
The Kuiper Belt is our home
There's Eris and Sedna, Lempo, Varuna,
Gonggong and Niku and Drac,
Ixion, Orcus and Rhadamanthus
And thousands of others like that
There's Arrokoth, Biden and Farout and Albion,
Quaoar, and Ceto and Zhulong
Chaos, Haumea, and several with names that are
Hard to pronounce 'cos they're too long
We don't want to join your party
We don't care about your rules
We're the Trans Neptunian Objects and
There's more of us than of you
There's Eris and Sedna, Lempo, Varuna,
Gonggong and Niku and Drac,
Ixion, Orcus and Rhadamanthus
And thousands of others like that
There's Arrokoth, Biden and Farout and Albion,
Quaoar, and Ceto and Zhulong
Chaos, Haumea, and several with names that are
Hard to pronounce 'cos they're too long
We're the Trans Neptunian Objects and
There's more of us than of you

Hammer On The Rock
03:13
|
|||
|
You take one step but there's many miles to go
You keep on building but the backlog overflows
Management is on your back and desperate to impress
While you fulfil the promises of everybody else
No preparation, complication
Stress, frustration, procrastination
Burnout and exhaustion, confidence is knocked
You might as well be hammering, hammer on a rock
The challenge seems impossible, can't bring yourself to start
But one day you will hammer and the rock will fall apart
In the morning, in the evening, hammer round the clock
Keep hammering, hammering, hammer on the rock
It always feels that progress is so glacially slow
Nothing seems to happen and the fears begin to grow
Bigots guard bathrooms, madmen with guns
It's hard to keep believing that change will ever come
Isolation, warring nations
While we chant on demonstrations
Feel it's not enough to give it everything we've got
We might as well be hammering, hammer on a rock
The challenge seems impossible, can't bring yourself to start
But one day you will hammer and the rock will fall apart
Hammer danger and a warning, hammer round the clock
Keep hammering, hammering, hammer on the rock
Every crack in every formation
Every little victory is a cause for celebration
The challenge seems impossible, can't bring yourself to start
But one day you will hammer and the rock will fall apart
Hammer danger and a warning, hammer round the clock
Keep hammering, hammering, hammer on the rock
Everybody all together
one almighty thwock
We're hammering, hammering, hammer on the rock

Back Of The Drawer

Lying in the darkness
Does anybody care?
Resting on my own while
My friends all sleep in pairs
Memories of happy times
Are all that now remain
She left without a single word
To help me ease my pain
Will I ever know?
Where did my partner go?
I remember how we'd dance together
On the kitchen floor
But now I lie abandoned
At the back of the drawer
And when the light peeks through the crack
I wonder is this when
My partner has returned and we're
United once again
But as my friends march two by two
Won't she please come home?
I'm nothing here without her
I will never walk alone
Won't you tell me please?
Where my partner could be?
I remember how we'd dance together
On the kitchen floor
But now I lie abandoned
At the back of the drawer
Is my sole now wearing thin?
Am I destined for the bin?
Are we forever lost?
Will it come out in the wash
I remember how we'd dance together
On the kitchen floor
But now I lie abandoned
At the back of the drawer
I'm nothing here without her
I will never walk alone

I can see this conversation's going nowhere
I'm sure we're both on a different page
In fact it isn't even the same volume
And it's hard for me to get you to engage
I couldn't change your mind with my logic
Perhaps you thought the axioms were wrong
So I'll get out the harmonica and blow it in the wind
And perhaps I'll change your mind with a song
I couldn't change your mind with an example
I couldn't change your mind by giving facts
Facts don't care about your feelings
And you never could forgive them for that
I couldn't change your mind with my logic
Perhaps you thought the axioms were wrong
So I'll get out the harmonica and we shall overcome
And perhaps I'll change your mind with a song
The world burns around you and you say that this is fine
But I'll try to convince you one more time
Doesn't matter if the lyrics are subversive
Doesn't matter what I sing or how I play
If precedent is anything to go by
You won't understand the message anyway
I couldn't change your mind with my logic
Perhaps you thought the axioms were wrong
So I'll get out the harmonica for what it's worth
And perhaps I'll change your mind with a song
So I'll get out the harmonica and give peace a chance
And perhaps I'll change your mind with a song

Is Anybody There?
03:21
|
|||
|
We've got a problem and we're looking for advice
Exhausted options so we're looking to the skies
For cultures who advanced, the answer to our prayers
Who made it through the crisis with experience to share
Is anybody there? Is anybody there?
Could this be the fate of all who grow so proud
Who will not learn from history so doomed to wipe it out
Is anybody there? Is anybody there?
Do we now understand why
There's no reply
Or maybe they keep quiet desperate to hide
From those who need another world to bleed until it's dry
Aaaaaaah, is anybody there? Aaaaaaah, Is anybody there?

The sky is dark and grey
The Number 94 is late
Nervous glances at the sky
Zip your macs up high
And the heavens open up
Masses wading through the floods
Soaked to the skin
Or fighting umbrellas in the wind
Can't get a signal but I fiddle with the phone
While we huddle in the shelter chilled to the bone
And watch the water trickle down the gutter to the drain
Standing at the bus stop in the rain
Standing at the bus stop in the rain
Shoes and ankles splashed
By cars streaming past
Daggers from our eyes
At the drivers warm and dry
But not a word is said
The world's inside our heads
All with one shared thought
Where's the 94?
Can't get a signal but I fiddle with the phone
While we huddle in the shelter chilled to the bone
And watch the water trickle down the gutter to the drain
Standing at the bus stop in the rain
And we look towards the corner at the end of the road
Not so much in expectation rather more in hope
While the water keeps on flowing down the gutter to the drain
Standing at the bus stop in the rain
Standing at the bus stop in the rain

They say nothing is forever
But we know that isn't true
Some things come around again
No matter what we do
So maybe you can tell me
If we'll reach the end of the line
Say yes, will it be over?
Or no, it's for all time
If the wheels are spinning faster
While there's news I'm waiting for
Will you ever give me the answer or
Will I wait forever more?
Imagine for a second I can
Give you what you need
We'll turn it on itself and then
We'll see how things proceed
I've sent the one you seek
Towards a distant carousel
You'll see when it returns
It's still too far away to tell
If the wheels are spinning faster
While there's news I'm waiting for
Will you ever give me the answer or
Will I wait forever more?
Do I stay or do I go?
It seems I'll never know
As the galaxies grow colder
And the stars begin to fade
It's not too late for the
Decision to be made
If the wheels are spinning faster
While there's news I'm waiting for
Will you ever give me the answer or
Will I wait forever more?
If the wheels are spinning faster
While there's news I'm waiting for
Will you ever give me the answer or
Will I wait forever more?
Will you ever give me the answer or
Will I wait forever more?

The Expedition
03:23
|
|||
|
Proposals were accepted and the blueprints had been drawn
Nobody had seen it since 1994
The team was ready to begin
It was time that they went in
There were myths and there were legends of the treasures deep inside
No-one could anticipate what they were going to find
Was it haunted, were there creatures keeping guard?
What secrets lay beyond
The expedition due to go and everyone prepared
With the flashlights and the PPE, everyone beware!
Taking a deep breath, they thought of what they might discover
On the voyage to the bottom of the cupboard
Would they make it past the cardboard, could they handle all the dust?
Would the artifacts they dug out be beneath a layer of rust?
How often would they come back up for air?
Would the gadgets and the chargers come in pairs?
Domestic archaeology is fraught with many risks
Rewards will come on eBay when they sell those floppy disks
And think what they might get
For a VHS cassette!
The expedition due to go and everyone prepared
With the flashlights and the PPE, everyone beware!
Taking a deep breath, they thought of what they might discover
On the voyage to the bottom of the cupboard
Will you start your own journey, will you dig out a surprise
From beneath the layers of packing foam and worn out bags for life
Maybe there's a Walkman or a working CRT
A box of tea bags best before November '93
A silver thing with LEDs of undetermined function
Mistranslated booklets that are probably instructions
Souvenirs of places that you swear you've never been
A t-shirt that you haven't worn since you were seventeen
A tangle of adapters for God knows what devices
Nuts and bolts and Allen keys in many shapes and sizes
So they gathered in the hallway, dreaming of the prize
With bin bags in their hands and with pound signs in their eyes
Taking a deep breath, they thought of what they might discover
On the voyage to the bottom of the cupboard

Skimming Stones
03:34
|
|||
|
The kids are building castles in the sand
The mums and dads are strolling hand in hand
The seagulls eye the picnics, waiting for their chance
A family's at the kiosk for ice cream
A hardy soul is swimming in the sea
While I sift through the shingle as I wander on my own
Trying to find a rock the perfect shape for skimming stones
Frisbees flying as they catch the wind
Sunbathers show off their bronzing skin
Dogs are chasing footballs as the tide is coming in
And I sift through the shingle as I wander on my own
Trying to find a rock the perfect shape for skimming stones
The sky is fading out from blue to red
Folks are heading home to find their bed
I still sift through the shingle and wander on my own
Trying to find a rock the perfect shape for skimming stones
If I can score a ten, then I'll meander home
Till then I'll fill the hours at the shoreline skimming stones
I'll while away the hours at the shoreline skimming stones

Sincerely, Your Brain
04:00
|
|||
|
Dear body,
I see you've gone to bed
I wonder if you'd like to hear
What's going on in your head?
You've got that deadline coming up
and that meeting that you dread
Yours sincerely,
your brain
Dear brain,
Thank your for your words
There'll be some time tomorrow
To deal with these concerns
But let me tell you now
In no uncertain terms,
Please let me go
to sleep
Please please
let me go to sleep
It's long pastmidnight
Go back to counting sheep
Tell me in the morning
If you feel the need, but now
Please please sleep
Dear body,
Now you're lying down,
Maybe you can deal with
The problems that I've found,
Genocide, injustice,
And oppresion all around,
Yours sincerely,
your brain
Dear brain,
I'd really like to help,
But they're not the kind of things that
I can sort out by myself,
Perhaps I'll take some action
If I can get some rest,
Please let me go
to sleep
Please please
let me go to sleep
It's long pastmidnight
Go back to counting sheep
Tell me in the morning
If you feel the need, but now
Please please sleep
Please please
let me go to sleep
It's long pastmidnight
Go back to counting sheep
Tell me in the morning
If you feel the need, but now
Please please sleep
Please please sleep

Interstellar Pie Shop
03:37
|
|||
|
We wanted to get out and explore
Find a town that offered something more
Experiences that we'd never dreamt
But we found that no matter where we went
We would walk identical streets
With nothing new to buy or even eat
All the signs with all established names
Shopping centres looking just the same
Find a new city or go to the highlands
Go from the Lizard towards Dunnet Head
Wherever you are on these wind-beaten islands
You'll never be more than a mile from a Greggs
In search of variety, please
We took an Airbus overseas
But we saw from the cab to our hotel
Some logos we already knew so well
All the world over the signs are familiar
Across the whole planet the industry spreads
Be it Spain or Japan, or France or Australia
It's Starbucks or Costa, McDonalds or Greggs
To find a place where Brew Dog have no bars
We launched ourselves towards Mars
With one simple goal for our mission
The pioneers on this first expedition
And the spacecraft descended, its engines in chorus
Approaching the surface extending its legs
We looked through the porthole and saw waiting for us
A Starbucks, a Costa, McDonalds and Greggs
Gemini, Voyager, small Martian rover
Hop on a Soyuz towards ISS
Wherever you travel the universe over
You're only a light year away from a Greggs
You're only a light year away from a Greggs

Goliath
03:23
|

|
Fighting as the underdog with back against the wall
But the bigger they are the harder they fall
And you wish they'd pick on somebody that's closer to their size
Fear and hate in their eyes
Frightened, weary, don't want to continue
When the bigger they are the harder they hit you
You're fighting a Goliath and you're desperate to run
But remember it was David who won
It's a David-Goliath battle once again
But Goliath will always go down in the end
Goliath goes down in the end
Goliath goes down in the end
Who will be the target as they're aiming punches down?
Who's the latest bogeyman they're wanting driven out?
Got to be somebody else who's there to take the blame
That's how they play their game
Giving out the orders, balances unchecked
Are you the one who's going to be next?
The Philistines will taunt and the end is going to come
But remember it was David who won
It's a David-Goliath battle once again
But Goliath will always go down in the end
Goliath goes down in the end
Goliath goes down in the end
Be ready to play your part
They fight dirty, we fight smart
It's a David-Goliath battle once again
But Goliath will always go down in the end
Goliath goes down in the end
Goliath goes down in a...
David-Goliath battle once again
But Goliath will always go down in the end
Goliath goes down in the end

Paperwork and Admin
03:37
|
|||
|
All the laundry's folded
Socks are matched and paired
Cushions lined up neatly
On the sofa and the chairs
All the rooms are hoovered
Windows sparkle bright
As if I might be welcoming
Some visitors tonight
The pots have all been scrubbed
And the kitchen sink is clear
It's almost looking like
An adult might live here
And while there's shelves to organise
And things to put away
The paperwork and admin have to
Wait another day
All the bins are empty
And the books are on the shelves
Furniture is polished and
The bathroom's free of smells
DVDs back in their boxes
CDs in their trays
As if I know my mother
Is about to come and stay
Could it be an omen
Is the world's end getting near?
It's almost looking like
An adult might live here
And while there's shelves to organise
And things to put away
The paperwork and admin have to
Wait another day
Let's order in the pizza
Get a can or two of beer
It's looking too much like
An adult might live here
'cos while there's shelves to organise
And things to put away
The paperwork and admin have to
Wait another day

Tomorrow's Whisky
03:36
|
|||
|
The trail is steep
You drag your feet
You feel like giving in
As you struggle against the wind
You wipe your specs
Like that has an effect
Dreaming that some blue
Comes poking through
We have to still believe
Though it's hard for us to see
When it's so misty
I know the skies are grey
But the rain that fell today is
Tomorrow's whisky
Water finds the hole
That's in your sole
And some other fella
Has stolen your umbrella
One day the wind will change
Be on your tail
A gust from the south
Turns that brolly inside out
We have to still believe
Though it's hard for us to see
When it's so misty
I know the skies are grey
But the rain that fell today is
Tomorrow's whisky
We'll be standing at the bar
Shouting Slàinte Mhath!
We still believe
Though it's hard for us to see
When it's so misty
I know the skies are grey
But the rain that fell today is
Tomorrow's whisky

Anyone Who Isn't You
03:04
|

I love to see the way the light
Reflects upon your back
I love to hear your voice
When it says you're making tracks
I love the sound the chair makes
As you shift it on the floor
I love the way your feet
Gently walk towards the door
The squeaking of the hinges
Makes a sound that's oh so sweet
When it's followed by your footsteps
Fading out along the street
The way that you look smaller
As you disappear from view
How I love to spend my time
With anyone who isn't you
Do you see the way I look at you
As you walk into the room?
Do you see it in my eyes
Will it all be over soon?
I wonder can you fathom
The joy you bring to me
When I'm finally rewarded
With a moment's blessed peace
I love the way you move your arms
When putting on your coat
The way you say goodbye
After clearing your throat
The way that you look smaller
As you disappear from view
How I love to spend my time
With anyone who isn't you

Octopodes
02:48
|
|||
|
Among the rocks and coral reefs
Giant spider of the deep
Arms equipped with extra brains
Blue blood coursing through the veins
Kept alive by three strong hearts
And solitary though they are
The only thing that one discusses...
Is the plural octopuses?
Shapeshifters, in disguise
Take the orcas by surprise
Dodging dolphins, sharks and eels
Many tricks up many sleeves
Beware the vampire squid of hell
No-one safe inside their shell
I hope that you're prepared to die
If you meet plural octopi
Obscured with burning poison ink
You won't have the time to think
Swim to shore and hit the road
When you see plural octopodes
And don't try to confuse me please
By saying it's "octopodes"

Kitty Hawk

|

|
It's a freezing December morning
And we're sorry for the delay
But we've re-attached the propellor
So it's time to get underway
You've shown your passport, checked in your case
You're cleared by the folks from the TSA
You've got your duty free and arrived at the gate
At the airfield at Kitty Hawk
My name is Captain Orville
That's Wilbur to my right
We welcome you aboard
For this historic flight
We're ready for departure now,
So stow your bags, put the armrest down,
Fasten your belts then we'll be off the ground
From the airfield at Kitty Hawk
We expect some turbulence
So please stay in your seat
When we reach an altitude
Of just above ten feet
The engine is running, the power is fine
We'll be cruising after a gentle climb
And be at our destination in 12 seconds time
The airfield at Kitty Hawk
A hundred and twenty years later
Herded like a sheep to its pen
You mutter under your breath
"I'll never fly Ryanair again"
But soaring over oceans in a metal can
Watching ancient movies and eating something bland
Remember that your trip began
With the brothers at Kitty Hawk
On a windy Thursday morning on Kill Devil Hills,
The airfield at Kitty Hawk

Guardians Of The Rings

|
Keeping an eye as they circle the skies
To Janus' delight there's a red sky tonight
Keeping them safe from the wolves
By their gravitational pull
For their god and their king
They're the guardians of the rings
Titan's rocks
Tend to their flocks
Herding from within
The guardians of the rings
Doing their rounds, wandering proud
Steering the crowd, inside and out
By Prometheus' hook
And Epimetheus' crook
For their god and their king
They're the guardians of the rings
Titan's rocks
Tend to their flocks
Herding from within
The guardians of the rings
Under Daphnis' careful gaze
The sheep may safely graze
Pan will call the tune
As they dance across the moon
For their god and their king
They're the guardians of the rings
Titan's rocks
Tend to their flocks
Herding from within
The guardians of the rings
The guardians of the rings

Hera was the queen of the gods,
The sister and the wife of Zeus
Protector of women, family and children,
And owner of a very short fuse
Zeus had numerous lovers
But Hera always righted that wrong
They learned to their cost, the ones who crossed her
Didn't last very long
You'd better not mess with a goddess
You'd better not mess with the chief god's wife
Don't mess with a goddess
If you value your life
Callisto and Zeus were very good friends,
It made Hera a deep shade of green
In a fit of rage we got Ursa Major
A bear where a woman had been
And if you're on a date with her husband,
You're going to regret what you did
You might get fried by thunder and lightning,
Or forced to kill your own kids
You'd better not mess with a goddess
You'd better not mess with the chief god's wife
Don't mess with a goddess
If you value your life
An apple for the prettiest goddess!
Paris was the one with the choice
Aphrodite, Athena but you better pick Hera
Or it's bad news for Troy
If you didn't believe in her beauty or
Thought you were the fairest instead
You'd find yourself, ladies, living with Hades
Or snakes growing out of your head
You'd better not mess with a goddess
You'd better not mess with the chief god's wife
Don't mess with a goddess
If you value your life
Hera was the queen of the gods,
Faithful to Zeus all her days,
Protector of women, family and children,
As long as they stayed out the way
You'd better not mess with a goddess
You'd better not mess with the chief god's wife
Don't mess with a goddess
If you value your life
Don't mess with a goddess
If you value your life

They brought their tambourines
Guitars and ukes and drums
For science had ice cream
In the early summer sun
That night they hugged their oldest friends
They'd never even met
But the sun was trying to tell them
That it wasn't finished yet
They had shared in song and laughter
They had lifted spirits high
Unaware the lights were dancing
In the early morning sky
The hours were getting smaller
They'd been thinking of their bed
But the sun had sent a message
That was written overhead
Now it's hard to break the circle
When the voices are in flow
But a diem's there for carping
And they knew they had to go
Festivities suspended
By a calling from outside
"Come and see the lights go dancing
In the early morning sky"
Heads up to the heavens
As the solar winds were blowing
The village sound asleep
While the party kept on going
Where they gathered on the rooftop
Open mouthed and goggle-eyed
And they watched the lights go dancing
In the early morning sky
And you know you're making music
That'll cause the gods to cry
When you get the spectres dancing
In the early morning sky
They couldn't turn their eyes from
The early morning sky

Mr Harker

I bid you welcome, Mr Harker
Come in, the air is chill and you must rest
Let me take your luggage to the bedroom
I must insist, for sir, you are my guest
I pray now please be seated, Mr Harker
Time to take your supper as you please
You must be tired, and your room is ready
Eat well and be assured of pleasant dreams
Please be patient in the morning, Mr Harker
For then I must be absent for a while
Do not wait for me to take a hearty breakfast
And do not think there's anywhere to hide
Hear the wolves as they howl while you're finishing your meal
I see you in the library while preparing for the deal
It's a pleasure doing business, Mr Harker
And I thank you for the needs that you have served
But I require that you stay a little longer
For there's much about your land I wish to learn
Now be careful with that razor Mr Harker!
There are dangers in the land you do not know
And I'm aware that it's reflecting badly on me
But I must tell you that I cannot let you go
You must watch where you are sleeping Mr Harker
When your eyes are heavy go to bed in haste
For the castle it is filled with ancient memories
And for tonight at least I need you to be safe
Have no fear of the ladies who are desperate to dine
I will not let them harm you, for the moment you are mine
The earth will soon be moving, Mr Harker
As I slip towards the forest down below
Your work is done our business here is over
You must write to tell your loved ones you'll be home
But don't think that you are leaving, Mr Harker
As you gaze upon the castle wall outside
I'll be packing up and setting sail for Whitby
You'll be staying in the chamber for my brides

Out In The Rain

They didn't need a weatherman to warn them
It was lunchtime but the sky was growing dark
A distant rumble promising disaster
Clouds on the horizon looming large
But Noah had been making preparations
Having got a long range forecast from on high
He knew he would need more than an umbrella
For his family and the wildlife to stay dry
Every species got a pair of tickets
From aardvark up to zebras and the rest
Even flies and spiders were invited
Keeping predators and prey on separate decks
And when it came to final call for boarding
Passengers were all checked off the list
But Noah couldn't shake the nagging feeling
There was something else important he had missed.
What about the unicorns? Did he forget the unicorns?
A branch of evolution down the drain
How could he miss the unicorns? Now there's no more unicorns!
'cause someone left them out in the rain
A giraffe or two made it through the deluge
They could just about survive on higher ground
The ducks didn't need any assistance
But the unicorns were simply left to drown
He brought in a pair of rats and the roaches
The raptors and tyrannosaurus rex
Thought he'd gone through all of the inventory
But you know it always pays to double check.
So what about the unicorns? Did he forget the unicorns?
A branch of evolution down the drain
How could he miss the unicorns? Now there's no more unicorns!
'cause someone left them out in the rain
And it was only when Noah saw the rainbow
That he knew he'd left a species in the cold
But tell me you won't have a senior moment
When you're six hundred years old
What about the unicorns? Did he forget the unicorns?
A branch of evolution down the drain
How could he miss the unicorns? Now there's no more unicorns!
'cause someone left them out in the rain
Someone left them out in the rain

Betelgeuse
03:32
|
|||
|
Everything is finite
All good things must pass
So cherish all those moments
Enjoy them while they last
Spend time with your family
Appreciate your friends
For nobody can tell you
When the fun is going to end
Yes everything must burn out and die
Even the stars that decorate the sky
So if I should be in luck before
The end of my road
I'll live to see
Betelgeuse explode
Supergiant, red, among
The brightest we can see
But nearing its time,
It'll one day cease to be
Then a three month flash
From a distant supernova
Will light up our world
And tell us it's all over
Yes everything must burn out and die
Even the stars that decorate the sky
So a vision that I'm craving
Before I meet my doom
Is to look up and see
Betelgeuse go foom
But pity poor Orion,
As the universe gets older
It's hard to be a hunter
When you've lost one of your shoulders
So if I should be in luck before
The end of my road
I'll live to see
Betelgeuse explode
Yes a vision that I'm craving
Before I meet my doom
Is to look up and see
Betelgeuse go foom
