DO THE ABSOLUTE MINIMUM AT WORK. MAKE ART THAT HURTS. ABANDON ALL GUILT AND SHAME. DONT LET THEM KILL YOUR SOUL. BECOME YOUR OWN PERSONAL GOD. GROW SPIKES. DONT LET THEM KILL YOUR SOUL
best trope is the one where the character’s godlike power is also killing them btw. they don’t even lift a hand to kill the monster but now they’re delirious with fever. they save a friend’s life and said friend immediately finds them emergency medical care. they raze the enemy to nothing and it takes far too long to find their pulse with all the bruising. their friends just constantly having to patch them up and worrying over which feat will be their last. et cetera
i've seen people trying to shame artists for continuing to make and share stuff while the world is on fire and like i'm so confused cos what do you want people to do? like it's either art or drugs or death, and also people have been creating art throughout history during some of the worst of times, it's how we stay alive. not to mention this is some people's job too, like imagine shaming people for trying to work? when there's literally nothing most of us can even do about the hellscape that is today's world, if we don't make art we'll just be even more miserable and idk how that helps anyone
my knight dismissed me as his squire for shrieking “DIVA DOWN!” when he was unhorsed on the battlefield
I can't quite explain it, but Clue (1985), The Princess Bride (1987), Galaxy Quest (1999), and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) are all the same genre
They aren't a spoof (roast) or a love letter (tribute), but a best man's speech; an expression of love with a gentle ribbing on ocassion.
