The Mobile Legends Professional League (also known as the MPL) is a professional esports league system for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, hosted by Moonton Games in conjunction with various local organizers around the globe. The MPL was announced in 2017 following the end of MLBB's first major tournament, the 2017 Southeast Asia Cup with Philippines Philippines, Indonesia Indonesia, and Malaysia Singapore Malaysia/Singapore as the original MPL trio leagues.

More leagues have been added across the year with Myanmar Myanmar being the first ever addition to the MPL series in 2018, followed by the introductions of Cambodia Cambodia and Brazil Brazil in 2021. Joining them is the announcement of Malaysia Malaysia and Singapore Singapore being separated into their own standalone leagues as they are now no longer combined.

Additionally CIS CIS also recieves one of their own known as Mythic League, Which is the first official sanctioned league that is not under an MPL branding.

Middle East Middle East & North Africa has been confirmed as the newest region being introduced into the MPL series in 2022.

Franchising

On July 24th, 2019[1] Moonton has announced that MPL ID Season 4 will be adopting a franchised league model, effectively becoming the first franchised esports league in Southeast Asia. Alongside the franchising a developmental league has been formed, known as the Mobile Legends Development League or MDL for short.

On July 16th, 2021 [2] Moonton has announced that MPL PH Season 8 will be joining Indonesia as the second league to enter the franchising esports model under MDL. However, it is currently scheduled to be launched in 2023.

MPL events are used to determine top teams from each region towards a major events, three of the official major championships including:


Additionally, an invitational known as the MPL Invitational was launched in 2020 and also send top teams from each league into this event as well. Regions that did not have any official sanctioned leagues will have to attend a regional qualifier circuit.
