You have to admit the pricing was scandalously high. And the shopkeeper called them a cheapskate.” Argued their silver haired companion.

I didn’t know what to expect, but this is surprisingly accurate, given Ellith’s obsession with severed fingers 😆 😅

I like the idea of a ring, both literally and figuratively, as a something that can charm and appear as a gift, but which is in fact, a trap; something that can tie up, imprison and hurt. Not only as a physical tool, but also through spells that can enchained someone’s mind and make it rot with obsessive thoughts (I mean, Ellith is bard and a sorcerer who dealt with a succubus long before Haarlep, soooo, yeah, it’s a thing).

It’s also very interesting because there’s a ring Ellith and Astarion’s story, which Ellith wears as an earring, and which can be seen as a token of their story.

After all, I have a fanfic called “The Rusty Ring” 🙃, in which the jewel is described as “old, tarnished, but still lovely.”

I finally managed to start writing again. It wasn’t easy, I don’t know if I’ll manage to keep going, but here is a little something (post game-events).

1 and 13 for the durge ask game ^v^

Asked by junoswritingpit

Thank you very much @junoswritingpit for your questions!

Past Life Dark Urge Asks - 1st Edition

1 - Do they miss their adoptive family? Why or why not?

They had no adoptive family. Sceleritas dropped the baby in front of an orphanage in the lower city, Ellith was kicked out from it when they were 8 and then they lived in the streets until the Bhaalists found them when they were around 18/20…

They only person they missed was Tariska, their best friend in the streets and then their lover. But among the Bhaalists, Ellith started to refuse to think about her, preferring to discard the bittersweet memories, shielding themself against the pain but also (mostly) refusing to give into sentiments.

More information about all this here, if you’re curious.

Salut :3 For the past life dark urge questions I'm curious about those for Ellith :

12. Durge gave a gold coin to a beggar once; why did they do it? Did this occur regularly? (if you did keep that from the game ofc :3)

13. Orin has her faithful group of changelings. Did your Durge have a similar 'personal guard' or task force at their back and call?

12. Durge gave a gold coin to a beggar once; why did they do it? Did this occur regularly? (if you did keep that from the game ofc :3)

I keep it, yes.

Since Ellith spent their childhood in the streets, they knew how it feels to have to beg for a coin, to starve in the gutter, to hope for someone’s empathy.

Obviously, as the leader of the Bhaalists, they preferred to avoid thinking about their past and cared not for the poorest folks of the Gate.

But there were moments of vulnerability (rarely though), and it’s during one of those moments that they gave a coin to that beggar. A brief moment during which the poor thing reminded them of the child they used to be.

They clearly regretted it afterwards and probably tried to find the beggar to kill them and erase every evidence of this “misstep”.

 13. Orin has her faithful group of changelings. Did your Durge have a similar ‘personal guard’ or task force at their back and call?

Yep, they did. As I briefly mentioned here, there were a few bhaalists they trusted more than others.

There were probably 5 or 6 of them they kept “close” and who would have done absolutely everything for Ellith. Two of them are briefly mentioned at the end of this chapter, and also in this short fic.

The thing is, as the tensions between Ellith and Orin increased, Orin’s group started to pry and spy on Ellith’s most faithful servants… And El could tell that Orin knew more than she should, and it escalated to the point that Ellith killed some of their own guards. When I said there were “close”, it didn’t imply any sort of affection or interest beyond their skills.

5, 8, and 11 for Past Life Dark Urge Asks 👀

CW: abuse and violence

5- What was their relationship with Sceleritas like? Did they like their ever-adoring butler or did they try to run from the most wretched mother hen?

Already answered!

8 - What was their relationship with Orin like? Did it change at some point?

Ooof… Violent, to say the least, and 100% toxic. I already talked about it quite a lot here, and wrote short fics about it here and here.

Orin was around 10yo when Ellith (18/20 yo) joined the Bhaalists, and the little girl soon wanted to see an older sibling in them. But Ellith despised the Orin, for many reasons – one of them revolving around the tensions between Ellith and Sarevok.

Also, after learning about their Father and heritage, Ellith deemed themself the one and only worthy Bhaalspawn, so Sarevok bloodline meant nothing to them.

Orin sought their attention (if not a certain affection), but Ellith kept on pushing her away, sometimes violently, despite Orin’s admiration. Ellith considered her as an underling, made to serve and obey – nothing more.

It never really changed on Ellith’s side until the betrayal. But as Orin grew up, her feelings turned into sick adoration, jealousy, resentment, and a feeling of injustice mingling with admiration, desperation and obsession. Hence the betrayal, which Ellith never saw coming although they did have it coming.

11 - The other cultists. How did your Durge view them? Did they enjoy their following or did they dread being idolised?
