Watch this video of Xena single-handedly destroying 100 men to get you in the mood to smash the patriarchy. This fight scene from One Against an Army (edited a bit for length) is one of the longest and most intense fights of the entire series and every second of it is an adrenaline rush. 

This is just one of the things I love so much about Xena: Warrior Princess.

Look at this fight scene. Now compare it to similar scenes in modern shows and movies.

Xena isn’t worried about slow-motion glamor shots or eye-candy poses or sexy smoldering expressions. She’s entirely focused on kicking unholy amounts of ass and everything about her screen presence reflects this. She sweats, she snarls, she bares her teeth, she gives those fantastic war cries.

Sure her armor has a short skirt and a sweetheart neckline. But whenever she draws a blade, she is a THREAT, and I will always love that about her.

Also Lucy Lawless has the best “Fuck Around And Find Out” crazy eyes ever.
