Do you have any fluffy headcanons about Ignis and baby!Nox? I’ve had a singularly awful last 24 hours, and I need something cute and fluffy to take my mind off it. Thanks!

Sure! I’ll whip some up.

-bby!Nox acts strange around Ignis. Ignis is, of course, instantly in love with the small boy just like Noctis is, but Ignis is very smart and … notices things. Like how Nox is skittish around strangers most of the time, but has never once been skittish around Ignis. It puzzles him, but he brushes it off as the side-effect of being Noctis’s Hand, Nox sees the two together all the time and probably associates Ignis with Noctis. (He forgets about how Nox called him “iggy” before they were ever formally introduced).

-Ignis is the go-to emergency baby sitter because for Iggy, Nox will be an angel. Nox likes to follow Ignis around even more than Noctis (which makes his brother SO JEALOUS of Ignis) and will quietly parrot Ignis’s words sometimes. Ignis: “And do remember you homework, Noctis.” Nox: “Member homework, Noctis.” Ignis: quietly dies from cute.

-Ignis has discovered that if Nox is being agitated and bratty, all Ignis has to do is plop Nox on the counter where he has a good view and start cooking something complicated. Nox will immediately quiet down to watch Ignis work, often with an oddly sad look in his eyes that Ignis doesn’t understand. The look always goes away when Ignis asks Nox to help him with a harmless task like washing the tomatoes or arranging the onions (one time Nox tried to help him by cutting the things, Ignis had a minor heart attack because WHO LET THE FIVE YEAR OLD HAVE KNIVES IN HIS ARMIGER) After gently telling Nox that he didn’t need help with that and taking the knife, Ignis made a mental note to yell at Ardyn later. He then noticed that the knife Nox had been using had old bloodstains on it and … decided to focus on getting rid of the tainted veggies rather than the implications of old blood on a knife owned by a CHILD.

-Nox steals the knife back when Ignis is distracted, but obediently doesn’t try to chop anything anymore.

-Ignis has a moment of Despair when he makes a food dish with vegetables and Nox immediately wrinkles his nose and sticks his tongue out with a mutter of “Veggies. Yuck.” Because he KNOWS that look from Noctis at that age, he really doesn’t want to deal with TWO princes who refuses to eat healthy. Then he stares in amazement as, with his nose still wrinkled, Nox obediently eats EVERY SINGLE VEGGIE ON HIS PLATE. Noctis is a Horror. When told about it, Ardyn blinks and goes “He won’t do that for me.”

-Nox, when asked, just shrugs and sips his chocolate milk before saying simply, “Iggy’s food. I’ll always eat Iggy’s food. Even if it is yucky veggies.”

-Ignis is an Emotion.

-Nox will occasionally slip away from his current caretaker (much to their pANIC) just to go find Iggy. No one knows why ignis is his favorite person aside from his Uncle, his Dad, and Noctis but if he’s not with any of them or Titus (the only person he can’t slip away from, because Titus LIKES LIFE THANK YOU) then he can usually be found with Ignis. Following him around, crawling onto his lap as the other boy tries to do some minor paperwork, getting piggyback rides from Ignis after Ignis figures out that Nox has a lot of scars and they hurt him to move sometimes. Basically Nox just likes to hang out with Ignis and no one but Ardyn has any clue why.

-Ignis is a little exasperated because he already HAS a princeling to mother, but Nox just blinks at him with sad blue eyes and Ignis is like “welp I have two princelings to look after better reshuffle my schedule”.

-Also Gladio likes to steal Nox sometimes because Nox is adorable and reminds him of Iris, so there are times when you can see Gladio charging down the hallways at top speed with a shrieking Nox on his shoulders and Ignis sprinting behind them yelling about safety.

-Nox is also single-handedly the reason Gladio and Noctis have a good relationship years before the Iris incident, because Nox is adorable and they both have Big Brother instincts now and successfully bond over that. Ignis is relieved at the loss of tension between prince and Shield, though he has the oddest feeling that Nox’s actions that keep driving Gladio and Noctis to work together are … intentional. But that’s impossible, Nox is only five and couldn’t possibly be aware of the tension that was there before he came into the picture.

-Everyone picture Ignis walking around the Citadel being followed by two princelings like they’re his bby ducklings and he’s the Mama Duck. Noctis, who is holding Nox’s hand as they walk, is cheerfully chatting with his bby brother (he has a bby brother! This is the best present ever thanks dad!) while Nox nods happily along and occasionally fact checks with Iggy (which wounds Noctis’s pride because his bby brother trusts Iggy’s info over his. Then again Iggy knows everything so isn’t his brother so smart to know that?)

-Ignis: *sighs indulgently*.

-The day ignis walks into the room to find Ardyn calmly play fighting with Nox using REAL KNIVES (Ardyn is being careful, but he really doesn’t know how to parent and Nox knows how to handle knives already because of his dreamlike future memories), all of the Citadel gets to witness the king’s half-brother, the ex-Chancellor of all Niflheim, getting LOUDLY dressed down by a twelve year old boy as he firmly confiscates all the knives (Ardyn’s included) and yells at Ardyn about child safety and knowing limits and not putting his nephew in danger.

-Ardyn, the former Accursed, the 2k year old immortal, the ex-Chancellor and once-destroyer of the world, quietly hangs his head and accepts the lecture with obedient “Sorry Ignis” right alongside his tiny nephew.

-Regis will forever be grateful to the Crownsguard that sneakily recorded the entire lecture, because while on one hand he needs to have a TALK with his half-brother about child safety, watching a twelve year old advisor to the Crown Prince successfully cow a former enemy politician is a Treasure.

-Nox likes to nap on Ignis. When an exasperated Ignis asked why once, because he really needed to get up and do his job pls, Nox just quietly whispered into Ignis’s shirt “Iggy’s safe. Nothing gets me when Iggy’s here.”

-Ignis was found by Noctis two hours later, helplessly lying in a sunny patch on the floor, afraid to move and holding back tears as he gently pet the snoozing Nox’s hair. Noctis immediately cuddled up under Ignis’s free arm and fell asleep. Ignis was too much of an Emotion to protest.

-No one found them until three hours later, all fast asleep on the floor with Nox’s magic lazily tangling around Noctis’s in a nigh-physical blanket of happy-content-safe-warm-happy.

-All the pictures were taken and the king was very quietly summoned to the room before anyone dared to disturb the pile.
