• About this blog

Hi! I’m Mary. This is my little corner for thoughts and things I love.

Here you’ll mostly find posts about series, movies and games. Sometimes analysis, sometimes opinions or notes.

I’ve shared posts about Digimon Adventure, Digimon Story Time Stranger and Genshin Impact but I’m also into The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VII, Card Captor Sakura, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Pokemon and a few others. I’m planning to dive into Digimon Beatbreak too.

I post about what moves me in the moment. It’s not a themed blog, just an evolving mix of things I enjoy.

If something here doesn’t match your interests, that’s fine. You can unfollow or mute tags anytime. Nothing’s personal, so we can still chat or interact whenever we cross paths again 😊

I like thoughtful conversations, good back and forths, gentle humor, staying away from drama and the freedom to change my mind.

Mi idioma principal es el español. If that’s your language, we can chat in spanish too.

    Stay well 🤍

  • Genshin Impact — First Thoughts after «A Traveler on a Winter’s Night» and «True Moon» Archon Quests

🔕: genshin impact maryychill, genshin spoilers

    I’m still processing everything.

A Traveler on a Winter’s Night and True Moon were an absolute emotional rollercoaster.

    image

I was fully engaged the whole time but some elements need to settle before I can make sense of them and I want to write these thoughts down before they faded.

    Notes:

    • I haven’t read Columbina’s story yet. I own the character but the friendship level is still at 1.
    • I haven’t read Dottore’s domain lore.
    • I haven’t completed the world quests in the new Nod Krai map, so I’m not yet familiar with the latest info on Nicole, Varka and Illuga (and possibly Flins).

    ⚠️ Spoilers under the cut!

    These are my initial thoughts:

  • Tumblr Wrapped 2025

    Timeline

    📍February 15, 2025
Discovered Digimon Adventure Tri by accident on Crunchyroll.
    🔹 Following weeks
Watched Tri seven times in a row, not knowing when to stop and started reflecting and feeling the need to put thoughts into words.
    📍 May 31, 2025
Blog start on Tumblr. Not the blog creation date but the moment I started writing publicly here.
    🔹 After that
Writing became part of the process. Sharing analyses and thoughts.

This year, Tumblr began for me during a time of many changes in my life. One of those moments when everything feels uphill and the world seems to be moving in a different direction nonstop.

In the middle of all that, I surrounded myself with familiar comforts and turned to Crunchyroll looking for a bit of nostalgia. While browsing the catalog, Digimon Adventure stood out to me, so I started watching, this time as an adult. And something clicked.

After finishing the series, Crunchyroll’s autoplay accidentally took me to Digimon Adventure Tri. A story I didn’t even know existed and that ended up accompanying me far more than I expected.

Taichi in Tri wasn’t saving the world out of pure heroism or impulse. From my perspective, he felt lonely, carried a heavy emotional weight and kept postponing important decisions.

That story helped me understand the moment I was going through and gave me a clearer view of how bonds are built when you’re not at your best.

But this wasn’t only about Tri.

At the beginning of September, I returned to Genshin Impact with version Luna I (6.0).

The story reminded me why I fell in love with this game in the first place, to the point that it inspired me to write about it again and replay the main story from scratch on a new account (a questionable decision and a very demanding experience).

I also returned to playing Digimon after MANY years (the same amount of time I hadn’t watched the series). Reconnecting with the franchise at this stage of my life was special. Analyzing mechanics, narratives and letting nostalgia do its thing, this time without running on autopilot.

As a year end plot twist, I created a side blog to archive things and breathe. I started writing more in Spanish alongside English, and in the early hours of December 23, I wrote my first fanfiction.

If I had to sum up this 2025 on Tumblr, it would be something like this: stories that arrived when I needed them most, writing as a way to channel my love for meaningful stories, organize my thoughts, and a strong desire to keep exploring.

  • (A possible) Digimon Adventure timeline

I’ve been thinking about the possible timeline of the animated Digimon Adventure canon and when I line up the ages (which includes a reference to the possible study phase for each chosen child) with the different entries, this is the reading that starts to make sense to me at the moment:

    image

In Taichi’s age group I place Sora, Yamato and Meiko. Mimi fits in Koushiro’s, and Hikari, Daisuke, Ken and Wallace fall into Takeru’s. Joe, Miyako and Iori are unique cases within the group.

When it comes to 02 season 1 and 2 (also HT & TGD), the exact ages would vary depending on each character’s birthday, which we don’t really know. Still, I’m treating those ages as the ones they would be turning during that year (basically the same way I’m doing it across all the entries).

In Kizuna, I see Joe in his internship phase. I place Miyako studying abroad, which could be read as a form of specialized training and Iori in his junior year of high school.

Where I have the most doubts is how to position Beyond.

When it was launched I saw it as a direct sequel to 02 The Beginning but over time it started to make more sense to me to read it as an alternate timeline branching after 02.

In this reading, the chosen children keep growing up and certain key encounters still happen, such as crossing paths with Meiko, Maki (Himekawa) and Rui, but not necessarily under the same circumstances or with the same narrative weight as in Tri, Kizuna or 02 The Beginning.

That opens the possibility of understanding Beyond as a variation of the same growth process. The same characters, the same underlying dilemmas but different choices and, as a result, different outcomes.

This reading may have its flaws or change over time but for now, without overthinking it, this is what feels most coherent to me.

  • Digimon Story Time Stranger — Battle Prep

This is the second part of my basic battle tutorial, in case it helps anyone else.

    This one focuses on:

    • Agent Skills and Rank
    • Personality, Heart and Bond types
    • Bond points
    • Talent

    Agent Skills and Agent Rank

Agent Skills are passive bonuses you unlock for the Agent using Anomaly Points (points you earn from progressing the story and completing tasks).

They empower your Digimon by giving benefits like reduced stat requirements for easier digivolution, boosted stats (HP, ATK, etc.), better experience gain and improved Cross Arts.

    image

The Cross Art is a special move you perform together with your Digimon, using your bond in battle to deal extra damage or grant support effects like buffs.

    image

When you spend Anomaly Points to unlock skills, those same points also raise your Agent Rank.

Some digivolutions require a specific Agent Rank to unlock, so make sure to keep spending your points, but do it according to your goals with your Digimon.

    image

There are five main Agent Skill trees. Four of them are aligned with different personality groups, and one, Loyalty, applies to all.

Each tree contains nodes that grant stat boosts, unique effects or Cross Arts enhancements.

As you invest in a tree, its effects become stronger for Digimon whose personalities belong to that group.

    Personality, Heart and Bond Types

They define how your Digimon grows and behaves in battle.

Each combination belongs to one of four Bond types (Valor, Philanthropy, Wisdom or Amicability) which boost different stats and roles.

To simplify things, here’s a chart I made as a quick reference on how each type works:
