(A possible) Digimon Adventure timeline

I’ve been thinking about the possible timeline of the animated Digimon Adventure canon and when I line up the ages (which includes a reference to the possible study phase for each chosen child) with the different entries, this is the reading that starts to make sense to me at the moment:

In Taichi’s age group I place Sora, Yamato and Meiko. Mimi fits in Koushiro’s, and Hikari, Daisuke, Ken and Wallace fall into Takeru’s. Joe, Miyako and Iori are unique cases within the group.

When it comes to 02 season 1 and 2 (also HT & TGD), the exact ages would vary depending on each character’s birthday, which we don’t really know. Still, I’m treating those ages as the ones they would be turning during that year (basically the same way I’m doing it across all the entries).

In Kizuna, I see Joe in his internship phase. I place Miyako studying abroad, which could be read as a form of specialized training and Iori in his junior year of high school.

Where I have the most doubts is how to position Beyond.

When it was launched I saw it as a direct sequel to 02 The Beginning but over time it started to make more sense to me to read it as an alternate timeline branching after 02.

In this reading, the chosen children keep growing up and certain key encounters still happen, such as crossing paths with Meiko, Maki (Himekawa) and Rui, but not necessarily under the same circumstances or with the same narrative weight as in Tri, Kizuna or 02 The Beginning.

That opens the possibility of understanding Beyond as a variation of the same growth process. The same characters, the same underlying dilemmas but different choices and, as a result, different outcomes.

This reading may have its flaws or change over time but for now, without overthinking it, this is what feels most coherent to me.
