Dave Harrington, Max Jaffe & Patrick Shiroishi follow up their critically acclaimed debut recording “Speak, Moment” (AKP) with “Zebulon!”—a live album recorded at the iconic former Williamsburg, Brooklyn and currently Frogtown, Los Angeles club for which it is named. “Zebulon!” Is actually the tape from the bands record release show for their debut, and they will perform a release show for it at Zebulon (obviously) on September 10th, at which point if the snake hasn’t gone on past eating it’s own tail and devoured itself, completely they will probably have recorded another record. Or they may have entered into a Zebulon-Möbius Strip, destined to repeat the cycle.

THE ALBUM! “ZEBULON!”
Ripping through a set of pieces of fully improvised post-everything-genre-less jazz?!, the trio find their way into new and unknown spaces. Chamber jazz becomes caked in electronics, sometimes patient, sometimes persistent. Krautrock becomes noise becomes ambient concréte, radio waves piped in from beyond the dial and spun back through saxophone, guitar and drums hashing it out in real time. These three are close listeners, and deeply in conversation with one another, never afraid to take a risk and leap off the ledge of an idea just as it comes into focus or to keep hammering at it out until it’s become something completely new. They are serious about improvising but they don’t take themselves too seriously…this is fun stuff, being made in the moment, with joy and searching ambition. Motian/Frisell/Lovano covering NEU! or Lightning Bolt with Evan Parker covering Jerry Garcia Band or Braxton/Jenkins/Smith covering Gavin Bryars…maybe? MAYBE!
AVAILABLE 9/6 digitally and on cassette via MAXIMUM OVERDUB. Believe It!

Now to spin this and take flight.
As a former card carrying member of jamband scene this would have fit nicely back in the late 60's-70's and the late 90's-00's when improvisational jams were king.
This is going to take the scene into another direction with Garcia Peoples.
