so awhile ago (i was still new to the fandom) i was reading a thilbo fic and sting was called something in elvish and i googled it and it said “such (biblbo’s sword in the fic) and such (thorin’s sword in the fic) swords are mates/a set” and i went “wow. and we just don’t talk about it??”

so i forgot it for like what a year and then suddenly remembered it and wanted to make a post about it so i go to try and google it and

it’s just not true??

like yes orcrist and glamdring are mates but i don’t think even in the beginning i could have mixed up glamdring and sting

i try googling maegnas. nope. it’s just sting in elvish. no mates or sets what so ever.

the only other set/mates i can find are anglachel and anguirel and if they were used in the fic instead of sting and orcrist this is a level of silmarillion three dimensional chess that goes way over my head. i try ctrl+f these two names through my bookmarks anyway. Nothing. (which does not actually say anything really im in a bad habbit of thinking i bookmarked a fic when i actually didn’t)
