Overview
Heartwrench Advance is a short game inspired by Mega Man and Shovel Knight, and following the aesthetic of classic Game Boy Advance titles like Drill Dozer, Wario Land 4 and Super Mario Advance 2, in which you crank, twist, leap and smash your way through challenging platforming scenarios.
No generative AI was used in the making of Heartwrench Advance. This project is a showcase of my development skills including C/C++ programming, art direction, character design, animation, and level design.

Heartwrench Advance was designed for and is intended to be played on Nintendo's Game Boy Advance handheld console. You may experience lag in some areas while playing the browser version.
If you don't have access to EZ-Flash or equivalent hardware for running .gba files on a Game Boy Advance, Heartwrench Advance can be run on a GBA emulator such as mGBA.

Is there a plan to make this a full game ALA Goodboy Galaxy. I loved playing this on my GBA and was so sad it ended after 1 level. It is such a fun and charming platformer and reminded me quite a bit of Celeste.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thanks for your kind words! At the moment I am working full time on my development portfolio, but it's my intent to continue work on Heartwrench down the line. The project is very special to me and I would love to build it out into a complete experience.
Woah, this looks like fun! Any chance of a browser port releasing?
Thanks! The game is now supported in browser, thanks to some help from the Goodboy Galaxy team.
This is super impressive already, looks and plays great. Only nitpick is the lag in certain parts. I really hope you continue on to a full game. And I couldn't resist doing a few attempts at the stage. Plays great on MiSTer FPGA.
1:22 is a fantastic time! Glad you enjoyed it. Optimizations are under way for the laggy areas, thank you for the feedback.
