Utopian techno-futurist concept: a tofu container which has a peel-away lid which is not bonded more strongly to the container than to itself, and as such can simply be peeled away rather than being iteratively torn into shreds or cut with a knife.
I’m never on here BUT. This is the only platform on which it is appropriate to share that SOMETIMES you get into a new show (The Pitt) and SOMETIMES it’s so good that you go “Hey, I wonder what the wizards on AO3 have cooked up on this one” so you go read a few of the top fics to see who is lusting over who smooshing booties in the fandom’s mind and then SOMETIMES a few days later a friend of yours mentions that an actor you’ve been reading people write explicit fic about went to college with her! And you’re like…oh dear.
Also then sometimes you go see a show featuring an actress you adore from another TV show (Severance) and you sit in the second row and hear people in the audience talking about how they live in the same apartment building as her in NYC and so a bunch of neighbors came out to see the show tonight! And you’re like oh my god, she’s just a human woman with a lease and an unbelievable amount of talent who I would absolutely leave my fiancé for and he knows it because I told him outright and he said “I get it, I would also leave me for her.”
And then sometimes you write a musical and work with a professional casting office so now you’re working with people you’ve seen on TV and Broadway stages and you’re very cool about it but it is a bit surreal to be one degree away from Olivia Rodrigo and the entire cast of Stranger Things and like, half of Hollywood.
All that to say this is not humble bragging, this is me exploring the strange permeable membrane of fame and how screens in particular (not as much stages, though still to a certain degree) create this odd removal of humanity but guys, it’s just someone’s job, they’re out there every day brushing their teeth and riding the subway and wondering what to have for breakfast.
(All that to say I am in no way immune to parasocial relationships and if Brennan Lee Mulligan started a cult I would be there so fast.)
