A pink flash passes over my head, and I already know that we will be well protected again today. Atom Eve is truly a heroine I admire; she has incredible power and could do whatever she wants with it, yet above all else, she wants to use it to help people. I want her autograph so badly! Suddenly, a lightning bolt seems to streak across the sky: an armed alien woman has just appeared. This is definitely a job for Atom Eve! Will this new threat cause sparks to fly?
❤ Aesthetically, the game stays true to the spirit of comics: the cutscenes are divided into panels with beautiful illustrations in vibrant colors, enhanced with animations, both in the sound effects and the backgrounds, making everything particularly dynamic. The combat also adopts this style, reinforcing each impact and effectively setting the pace for the rounds.
❤ Among our superheroes, several iconic figures from the series make an appearance, but the story clearly places Atom Eve at the center of the action (if there was any doubt left despite the title). This approach allows for much more character development than in the animated version, skillfully alternating between more intimate moments in her life and her heroic interventions. The dialogue choices also offer the possibility of slightly influencing her temperament, making her more feisty or measured, without ever betraying her comic book DNA. The other protagonists, although more secondary, retain the essence of what made them endearing in the series. ❤ The soundtrack is driven by pop-infused tracks, including a very catchy menu theme. The ambient music perfectly complements both the tense scenes, with their rising intensity, and the quieter, even romantic moments. Environmental and sound effects are equally impactful, bringing the story to life. It’s almost a shame that the dialogues aren’t dubbed, especially since the cast of characters already exists, even if this is just an insignificant detail.
+/- The story has several sparks of connection with the main series, as it takes place in parallel to it. For players already familiar with the universe, this will bring a pleasant sense of familiarity and will in no way spoil the story, as this time it is experienced from Atom Eve’s point of view. The romances with Rex and Mark also fit within canon, without being mandatory, which is a welcome choice if we don’t want to reduce our heroine to a romantic storyline. However, their development is a little uneven in my opinion; while staying friends with Rex makes their relationship a little strange and is much better structured in its romantic aspect, Mark’s romance, on the other hand, comes across as rushed, far from the deep connection the series had established which is a real shame. For newcomers to the universe, the experience remains largely accessible, even if the game does not seek to introduce or detail certain key elements of the original story (the Guardians, Omni-man…), which could perhaps be confusing. However, the story introduces a new narrative arc grafted onto the canon, led by an enemy who makes a first impression that is as spectacular as it is stylish. Unfortunately, this threat is too diluted among the various plotlines, to the point that the final battle seems almost anecdotal, even rushed. This impression is further reinforced by the short length of the adventure: the story moves at full speed, without taking the time to stabilize its core narrative or fully develop each character. +/- The turn-based combat system is quite fun and has a slight strategic aspect to it. The ability to see the enemy’s next move in advance allows you to anticipate your next actions, whether attack or defense. However, it’s rather poorly balanced. As the story progresses, Eve earns ability points that can be distributed in a skill tree centered around three main branches: empath, creation and firebrand. However, one of these paths proves to be significantly more effective in combat than the others, making encounters increasingly unbalanced. And even if you decide to focus on the other skill branches, the lack of challenge becomes apparent as you become more familiar with the combat, as its mechanics evolve too little. The development of these specializations nevertheless retains a narrative interest, as it can unlock a few alternative lines of dialogue leading to slightly different situations… but the main storyline remains unchanged, ultimately offering only a minimal impact.
✖ The journal and its constant notifications quickly become annoying, and frankly ridiculous when it merely summarizes scenes that have just been experienced. “It’s over between us!” / beep opening the journal / [Rex and I have broken up]……….. thanks for the update. ✖ The game encourages replayability in order to experiment with the different abilities in the skill tree, and includes a sort of NG+ mode that gives bonuses at the start of the game. But the lack of skip option coupled with the absence of manual saving makes this rather tedious. ✖ The French localization suffers from some interface issues, with text sometimes spilling out of dialogue bubbles. A patch apparently fixed this problem in the original version, so it is unfortunate that the French localization did not receive the same treatment.
Following Atom Eve’s ascent in this new episode was a small delight, even if her story sometimes struggles to take off. She remains an likable figure and her battles were engaging enough to face head-on, but her powers alone were not enough to trigger a perfect chain reaction. It may not be an atomic explosion, but this attempt was still a sincere one. I look up at the sky again and see something… Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's…
Winter is cold in Tokyo this year, and my little cat paws instinctively lead me to this abandoned station where I usually take refuge. But this time, it’s not empty. A young Japanese girl, her sister, and a young Chinese man now occupy the place. I begin to observe them from a distance, following their daily routine, which doesn’t seem particularly fulfilling. But once the cold weather is over, will they leave a trace behind them or vanish like snow?
❤ The story relies on beautiful illustrations, enhanced by some truly creative staging. Rather than settling for a simple static background accompanied by text, the settings are subtly animated and the images and written narration shift across the screen, giving the story a much more dynamic and lively dimension. This screen composition always evolves according to what the story seeks to emphasize, setting it apart from the classic format of many visual novels, which I think is worth highlighting.
❤ The characters are quite endearing, thanks in particular to the alternating points of view, which allow us to sympathise with their situation and what they are going through. The development of the two main protagonists unfolds gradually and subtly; we see them slowly opening up to others, and their relationship never falls into the somewhat cliché “boy meets girl” dynamic (which I admit I expected at first). It’s more of a spiritual connection, like an echo of their respective experiences, which in my opinion is much deeper and more poetic. The secondary characters also receive brief glimpses into their past, providing more context to the whole story. ❤ Once the year and their story are over, the game offers an extra bonus with a very cute and heartwarming scene, which is a welcome relief after such a sad story, like a little ray of sunshine.
+/- The cold brings with it a sense of melancholy, and this story is steeped in that same winter atmosphere. The game tackles realistic and timely themes such as immigration and social hardship, as well as more universal ones such as the meaning of family, without ever sugarcoating the situations. The narrative remains sober, often harsh, ending with an open conclusion far removed from conventional happy endings. Yet, some repetitions and inconsistencies creep in. In the first half, the scenes pass by and start to feel very similar, with the lack of communication between the two young people stuck at a standstill. It becomes frustrating to watch them persist in speaking their respective languages, fully aware that the other will not understand, and without even attempting another way to communicate. Other elements also lack logic: Kanna and Emi’s parents, who let their underage daughters live alone in Tokyo despite the younger one’s serious illness, without ever checking on their well-being; Jin, who after a year still doesn’t know simple Japanese phrases to communicate more easily; Emi’s illness and Kanna’s injury, which clearly have no impact on their daily lives except to add a little drama to the story; the mystery surrounding Tina the cat, who refuses to be touched throughout the game before suddenly being carried around towards the end without explanation, etc… All of this can make the reading sometimes quite annoying because, although the story aims to be deep, this lack of detail makes it difficult to create a totally credible universe. +/- This visual novel features fully voiced dialogue, with very convincing acting in both Japanese and Mandarin. This relatively rare choice effectively reinforces the language barrier between the two characters and contributes to the immersion of the story. As for the music, it discreetly accompanies the languor of the story but in my opinion, remains too subdued, never offering more expressive and memorable themes. On the other hand, the ending song is particularly beautiful and at least concludes the whole thing in a more memorable way. +/- The English translation is generally correct, but still contains minor typos and punctuation errors here and there. Some transition screens also feature spoken dialogue that has not been translated, a rather careless oversight. More regrettably, two DLCs are not available in English, depriving players of side stories that could have provided more insight into the characters’ pasts. I think this is something they should have anticipated, given that the base game was fully translated.
✖ Despite a certain attention to detail, the limited variety of settings is noticeable. The game is confined to two or three main locations, in which we end up hibernating due to their constant repetition.
Even though I eventually cohabited with these humans, I decided to leave despite the freezing wind, carrying a rather lukewarm feeling. It had been a cozy year with them, despite the sadness radiating from them. While they left footprints in the snow all around the station, my memories of them will likely fade away, like snow when the sun returns, leaving only a fleeting trace.

A little reminder for the newcomers ; each December 31rst, I create a post presenting the OTPS that have mattered to me the most during the year (+ family feels in bonus bcs why not) You can find my other posts with the tag “otps + the year”, it started in 2015 wow so for example “otps 2015″
I remember ending 2024 feeling pretty negative, but I can honestly say that 2025 brought me a lot. Despite some hard moments, it ended up being a really special year for me <33 I discovered at the beginning of the year a new french cartoon, Belfort & Lupin, and I didn’t know yet how much it was gonna be important bcs not only it opened so many doors for me (visiting an animation studio, doing interviews with creators etc…), but most importantly it led me to meet some truly amazing people who now turned into close friends, and I’m just incredibly grateful for that ;v;). Same on Steam where I also got to meet some absolutely lovely people, and we’re slowly starting to build the beginnings of friendships there too <3
On the work and health front, it still has been pretty difficult but 2026 will probably be a year of change for me, since I’m planning to change workplaces and so my living environment as well.
Anyway, it was a pretty eventful year on many levels, but what I’ll remember most is that 2025 was the year of friendship for me even if that sounds a bit cheesy x’D
TALKING ABOUT CHEESY lol what would be a year without these ships and the love they shared >V<):

Père Sinmas came in France this morning with not one, but two Helluva calendar (bcs why chose only one xD). So many of my fav Hellu artists worked on these, Elleapdraws, Zero, Doriaplume etc… and everything looks so cute and amazing, I AM SO MUCH HAPPY <333
TOP FIRST-TIME WATCHES OF 2025 || Rules: Post 9 of your favorite films you saw for the first time this year that are not new (2024/2025) but are new to you, and tag 9 others to do the same.
I’m a bit ashamed but I haven’t watched that many movies this year; I tried to go more often to cinema this year compared to 2024, so most of these are from this year x’) The only “older” movies I really enjoyed are these:
Looking at my movie list from this year, I realized that almost all of my fav movies are animated movies though :DD that was such an amazing year in that regard; Kimetsu no Yaiba, Legend of Hei 2, Zootopia 2, Arco….
Hello everyone!! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. :))
I come with some news concerning the artist Mariclee (@mariclee_arts), from whom I got permission since a little while. I noticed today that they are now on tumblr and actively posting their works on their own blog.
As I always try to prioritize reblogs whenever possible, I will no longer repost their illus directly and will instead reblog from their tumblr to better support their works. I also asked Mariclee whether they would like me to delete the previous posts I shared. They kindly told me it wasn’t necessary, so those older posts will remain on my blog.
Keep supporting the artist on their page if you can <3
Please be always careful to not support bad reposters aka the ones who don’t credit arts / who don’t ask before sharing the work of others even if credited / who use the works of others for commercial purposes/AI training. As you know, it can really hurt artists and impact the way they want to share their works on the internet. Thank you for reading.

Ladies and gentlemen, good evening. Keep your umbrellas close, rain will be sweeping across Japan this week, bringing cooler temperatures and strong gusts of wind. A typhoon warning has also been issued: it will mainly pass through the small town of Amatsu, so please take the necessary precautions. It seems to be growing with unusual intensity, and according to Ayumi, one of the village children, it almost feels like a divine wrath. So should we take shelter from this storm or try to weather it?
❤ Before the cyclone strikes, take some time to enjoy the surroundings of Amatsu, with its beautiful landscapes and warm colors, bathed in a gentle light that lingers despite the rainy weather. Along the way, you’ll meet locals who are all equally charming, each with a distinct visual identity. Between the hand-drawn 2D cutscenes and the subtle animations in the environment, the neighborhood feels anything but lifeless. The overall atmosphere carries a strong sense of nostalgia, and as you venture deeper into the surrounding forests, it gradually shifts toward something more dreamlike. As a bonus, the menu also features special illustrations by various artists, like little souvenir postcards that are a pleasure to look at.
❤ While the game firmly immerses us in 1980s Japan through its settings and folkloric details, the music follows the same path, accompanying exploration with soothing Japanese inspired melodies. The sound design also contributes to this serenity by filling the environment with natural sounds (rustling leaves, raindrops, etc.) and little gameplay effects that are particularly pleasing to the ear; I even found myself saving my game several times just to enjoy their sound texture. However, I do question the choice of the Spanish credit song, because although the studio is indeed Hispano-Japanese, it slightly clashes with the Japanese immersion built up until then… though this is minor nitpicking, as the track remains pleasant to listen to. ❤ Under the guise of a slice of life, the story accurately addresses everyday themes such as first loves, family tensions, and grief. These topics evolve in parallel with the growing intensity of the typhoon, symbolizing the upheavals that unsettle the characters’ lives, sometimes leaving damage in their wake, yet also opening the way to moments of respite, cause as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining. The fantastical dimension seeps in organically, with the creatures encountered bringing a new perspective on events and greater depth to the history of the setting. This brings to light relics of a past marked by war, whose wounds remain visible to those willing to pay attention.
+/- It’s easy to warm to young Ayumi, whose childlike curiosity and good nature make him endearing. Following his daily life and emotional ups and downs allows us to quickly empathize with what he’s going through, especially since his little notebook, which can be consulted at any time, offers a deeper insight into his feelings and strengthens our attachment to him. The secondary characters, whether villagers or yokai, are just as endearing once you take the time to meet them. Indeed, the world doesn’t remain static around Ayumi: everyone reacts differently to what’s happening, and this encourages us to pursue these interactions throughout the story to observe these changes. On the other hand, although Ami is literally the girl of his dreams, she struggles to stand out despite her central role. Her rather bland personality and overly timid chemistry with Ayumi make her seem almost cold, dampening the emotional impact that the duo is meant to convey, like a damp squib, the rainy weather doesn’t help. +/- The side quests allow you to get to know the residents of Amatsu better, immersing yourself further in the life of the neighborhood and deepening your relationships with each character. However, they’re few in number and concern only a handful of individuals; it would have been nice to be a bit more engaged on this front. +/- The gameplay is based on exploration combining interactions and platforming, which are fairly simple and slightly progressive, with Ami’s growing powers gradually allowing us to reach new areas. However, the game doesn’t fully exploit this aspect, remaining too basic and leaving us to wander between a walking simulator and a platformer, resulting in a rather uneven balance.
✖ As mentioned earlier, the story focuses on the evolution of life, both human and natural, yet this progression is surprisingly absent in Ayumi; from the beginning to the end of the game, there’s no real change in the way he approaches things. Perhaps it’s a deliberate choice, prioritizing the evolution of the world around him over catching wind of his growing maturity… Personally, I see it as a missed opportunity. ✖ During cutscenes, the screen shrinks, revealing numbers and symbols on its black borders. A somewhat strange aesthetic. ✖ Our protagonist moves at a fast pace, which isn’t an issue in itself, but it becomes one when interacting with environmental elements. It’s often difficult to position yourself correctly, and we frequently end up outside the target area. It’s not even that windy yet… ✖ The last unlockable illustration is tied to the success of the optional retro mini-game, which is frankly difficult compared to the rest of the adventure. A small but notable source of frustration.
The typhoon has now passed, and calm is gradually returning. While the gusts may not have shaken us too much emotionally, this stormy event managed to bring a bit of movement for the more adventurous and drew everyone a little closer on a human level. And whether it’s the passage of the storm or the passage of time, we must now learn to live with it and move forward… or let yourselves be carried away by the wind in turn.
