the problem with how people characterize narumitsu is that they only see them as the grumpy and the sunshine ship dynamic, so they end up writing phoenix as a golden retriever and miles as an old gay queen.
but like, phoenix is such a bitch. the bitchiest bitch that ever bitched, actually. he enjoys sarcasm and trash talking, but he has this thing called "situational awareness", so he knows not to behave like a massive cunt in front of people involved in a murder investigation
on the other hand miles gets easily flustered and his fight or flight response to being caught off guard is spitting a venomous comeback. but in his head he's making puns. he's thinking about how the plants are beautiful. he's like an easily spooked horse who is also a dork that gets into a staring contest with a dog. and then loses

Also I see some people ( and aa devs ) characterize Miles as heartless and emotionless or like his allergic to smiling while his sprites are very expressive and Is frequently seen smiling after 1-4 , I get that his defult sprite has a resting bitch face but I have seen people ( myself included) that might seem cold or angry on defult but thier face changes drastically when they're happy, sad or angry . Overall he's very forward with his thoughts and feelings
On the other hand if there's anyone who would hide their true feelings and read you to filth without telling it to your face it's Phoenix Wright

an unexplored dimension to the ace attorney/death note au: the death note needing a face and a name and the kurain spirit channeling technique needing a face and a name could give rise to an excellent bit where maya is like okay i know who kira is but you can't catch him yet because first we need to really freak him out. no yeah i know people are dying but listen give me that list of victims first i promise this is going to be so fucking funny
