HC that Jesper and Wylan have multiple offices/working spaces throughout the Van Eck estate.

While Wylan simply didnt want to use his fathers office for obvious reasons, fidgety perpetual movement Jesper needed an outlet for that energy or he risks falling back to old habits

Jesper would sit and read to Wylan for the rest of his days without complaint out of love but to say it wouldn’t be a struggle to sit in one place day after day would be a lie

They have enough rooms and space to make multiple work locations, so why not?

They work in the garden, they work in the music room, the kitchen, the living room, heck even the main hallway on occasion so Jesper can people watch

They find a balance that works for them

Wylan grateful that Jesper reads to him as if its no big deal and Jesper thankful that Wylan understood him enough to know how to make it not only feasible but enjoyable

I know I reblog a lot about Kanej here because the complexity of their relationship makes it much written about, and Helnik is a glorious execution of the fan favorite enemies-to-lovers trope, but Wesper remains my favorite.

It’s simply precious how uncomplicated their relationship is. Because love doesn’t have to be a constant struggle, it doesn’t have to wreak havoc in everything one is and believes in. Love can just be gently falling for each other as each gets to know the other. Love can just be supporting each other through the ordeals of life and being each other’s comfort. Love can just be growing together and helping each other thrive.

Wesper is all of this and their love not being a major upheaval in their life doesn’t take any meaning or strength away from it.

Just thinking about the fact that the “Just girls ?” scene, which is the first deliberate hint at Wylan’s feelings for Jesper, takes place right as Jesper’s been fiercely tapping into his power and he must have been glowing just like Genya after fixing Wylan’s face, and the merchling might have been a bit dazzled by the sight to lead to this dawn of a confession.

And the fact that Wylan’s so intense about Jesper’s Grisha powers because Jesper’s just starting to figure out how not using them hurts him, but Wylan has seen how radiant using them makes him. And he can’t accept Jesper’s self-disappointment and low self-esteem when he’s seen just how much he’s capable of if he lets himself.

And the fact that Wylan is so supportive of Jesper going to train in Ravka and show the whole world his brilliance and never lets the idea that Kuwei’s over there and must also be a bit dazzling when he uses his own power get in the way.

Just the fact that Wylan’s love for Jesper is so complete and pure and uplifting, you know ?
