| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Shikimaru is already an amazing Chuunin he can only get better with time. I think he will lead the perfect team to bring back Sasuke. I was annoyed again by Sakuras pathetic behaviour and I'm glad she will not be on the mission I am however sad that Lee hasn't recovered enough to go with them. |

| Shikamaru's talent never ceases to amaze me. Some times i just have to pause during his briefings just to follow along. He is a brilliant tactician for missions and is definitely deserved of his title of Chunin. Who would of known, the once laziest ninja of konoho would become such a legendary figure head later in the show. btw this "promise" that naruto made to sakura is one of the critical decisions for the remainder of the series. If most of you have been paying attention sakura is finally starting to realize that naruto is not useless and is starting to think of him as a very important person. She is placing his full blown trust into naruto now instead of always thinking of him as a nuisance that gets in her way of love. |

| Love the little team they formed. I like Sakura but her crying and uselessness can be a little annoying sometimes, I just wish they had written her a little better or at least had a female character (around their age) that's as strong and useful as the boys. |

| Okay okay. So they explained why no one was paying attention to Sasuke's scuffle and such, but at the same time, you'd think after an invasion they'd leave more people to look out for things. Or perhaps it'd be better to just have genin going on more missions? Or ya know, promote more genin to chunin so you can get more higher ranked missions completed. Idk. Honestly, a lot of these genin are really mature for their age. They do have a lot of emotional problems which might hinder their missions, but at least they're relatively capable. At least Shino's out on a mission though. I guess my biggest thing is if you don't even think these kids are capable of being promoted to a higher rank then how do you expect them to protect the village if stuff goes down? Because if they're out on missions they're already a bit weak to be holding down the fort, so it's not really that big of a deal if they're not there when folks invade again. ...At the same time, having all the higher ranks in one spot does seem like it'd be easier to take them all out at once if you had a special way to do so... Welp, I ain't hokage for a reason. :U Multiple. Including the position not being available... also in multiple ways. U: |

| This episode really was the shining point for Shikamaru to really shine and show his worth. He has his abilities really validated by Tsunade and, by association, the entire Hidden Leaf Village, which shows his competence and intelligence and ability to strategize, is clearly far above all the other Genin characters. He, in fact, is at the moment. He is a better strategist than Naruto. Naruto is not even the leader of this little group of receivers of Sasuke. We're just going to go out of the village and go on a mission because everyone who is again or higher is on other missions, which is kind of a weird thing. It just feels contrived. And why wouldn't there be people in the village to actually conduct a mission? You aren't just frightening kids, but I guess this is the world they live in where there are so many child soldiers, which is a sad thing, in all honesty, but that's just the way it is in this world in this Naruto universe, which is, again, a very sad point, which also released to things in real life for child soldiers, and I think that's one of the themes of the anime, but regardless, Shukamaru, obviously, is annoyed by the work that he asked in you, but he values it because it's to bring back a friend and a warrior of the Leaf Village who he trained with and had a lot of respect for. I think that this episode is pretty valuable to the whole franchise, because it shows the beginning of the mission to bring Sasuke back, which, heard from my knowledge, is going to be a defining point of the entire franchise, so it's pretty important in a pivotal episode. Sakra exists simply to just be sad about Sasuke and kind of just to serve as the emotional person who just embodies a lot of the emotions that are going into the whole Sasquit Rerievval mission. She's, it feels weird to have just a woman doing all the emotional work. It just feels stereotypical, but that's the way it is, and I guess there's not too much to complain about. It's just it's just a narrative decision that might not be as progressive as we would want, but it's still a fine decision, narratively. I think that the whole gang of gain look really cool and badass. Naruto seems to legitimately have a lot of power. I'm sure we saw last episode two, but, you also see that Chiba and the other characters chosen on the mission, including Choji, are also strong enough to fight, which is pretty cool. Yeah, it's a pretty good episode so far. I think Tsunade was a cute girl, also like Shikamaru's mom is cute, it might be a weird thing to say, but nah, that's how I feel. Shikamaru's dad is a pretty cool guy. It seems, I don't have much interaction with him. It was a good episode all in, and it's kind of cool that Sasuke has to die to like, activate his powers... pretty spooky. Yeah. It was satisfying, watching this. |
