Tbh, I think the plot for this show has a lot of potential. That opening scene this episode especially had me interested.

Animation quality is fine but it does feels somewhat lacking imo. On the other hand, this first episode really sets up a lot for rest of the season. Some other female characters are also introduced like Sora. Curious to see how this show will handle its supernatural content as it seems more mysterious than unusual to me.

Back-to-back 2 episode premiere.

Once again, yet another VN adaptation from the surprise company that is Palette (famous for Mashiroiro Symphony and its Fall 2011 anime adaptation), though its beginning notes sure reek that of an adaptation that'll prove quite the rushed effort.

The city of Shiromitsugawa having it's aforementioned Mobius Ring festival, that an earthquake out of nowhere forces the event to be cancelled, leaving its main high-profile cosplayer Miyako Kujo to lead the audience out, that it's only with Kakeru's help that he finally shoved them off, albeit with some jealousy from his sister Sora.

However, with the sacred shrine's relic crystal broken, the paranormal following them to school with one particular "cursed" hair accessory worrying Kujo a lot that their homeroom teacher Naruse has to have Kakeru send her home should anything out of the ordinary happen. And at the same family restaurant where the regular conversations merge, everything looked as if it was normal, though Sora being pampered that ires Kakeru a lot (other than the plush doll that looks strange at best), and Kakeru's good friend of Yoichi Fukazawa blasting erotic jokes at that. Worse, a stone statue of a petrified gur in school that only Kujo knows what's going on with her Artifact, allaying the alarm with the boys is probably the best choice to not get them suspicious.

The relic crystal is more than just broken, it's setting up quite the premise for the in-school fire that has Sora and her classmates trapped, that only Kujo can offer her help to save them.

It's quite the supernatural setup...yet, you will have to sail the high seas for subs for this one, and IF you do, please DO NOT get iQIYI's horrible AI subs, but an actual fansub that does all of the work better.

At first impression, I thought I was watching the wrong anime. The first 5 minutes of the anime featured a battle, while this is a romantic superpower anime. It was the anime's screening and Kujou's debut; an earthquake around the shrine caused an artifact to break. Accidentally, Kakeru injured his finger due to the friction from the shattered artifact. This was a sign that strange changes would begin quietly. I like Kujou's appearance when she is dressed as a maid compared to her cosplay.

In class, I enjoy how Youichi screams to imagine Kujou-san's body. They worry about Niimi-kun because he was involved in the artifact's breakage at the shrine, fearing that they might receive a curse. Is there a route for Naruse-sensei later? Ahahaha. For the first time, Kujou and Niimi are going home together, so is Kujou the first girl to be conquered by Niimi-kun?

Is there something strange about Kujou? I mean, she often forgets things, like her work shift. Niimi-kun has successfully gotten Kujou's LINE ID. This conquest of Kujou feels so quick, lol. There's something odd about the fox doll; could it be a cursed spirit?

A few days later, rumors spread that a stone statue of a girl appeared in the park. Hearing the rumor about the stone statue, Kujou became curious, and they decided to go to the park. Judging by the chipped nails and the blood dripping, I think this statue is a human turned to stone, like the legend of Medusa. Kujou also mentioned that this phenomenon might be the doing of the artifact. Furthermore, "Hakusen Gakuen" has also burned down, and the cause is still unknown.

The first episode ends here, and I heard that this anime will air two episodes back-to-back.

Wasn't expecting anything mayor but this was slower than expected.
It had some good parts but for now there isn't anything that really stands out.
The characters also didn't really stand out but it's only the first episode so they still need some development.
And the setting seems appealing but again this slow start didn't make it seem like anything special.
Guess i will check the second ep to see if that's any better.

I thought I'm watching the wrong anime for a second, turns out it's the anime they airing to promote their city. Animation and everything else could be better, but VN to anime adaptation is a gamble so I don't really have any high expectation whether they'll adapt it faithfully or not.

@Swutsy okay, so it wasn't just me that was having trouble with this shit. I mean, I watch donghua too and even those shit translations were better than this.
I want to like the show; it seems to have promise but they failed the first episode because it feels like a s2 or something where I'm just assumed to know what the fuck is actually going on. It set up the characters just fine but the plot and setting are muddy as hell.

This anime peaked my interest based on the synopsis alone. I don't know about VN nor do I care. I guess I liked first episode. "I guess" since damned subs were utter garbage. You don't have to be fluent in Japanese to know shit doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I will revisit this when proper subs are available.

i'm 10m40s into ep1 and i just gotta ask... did EVERYBODY watch a version with hard encoded subs THAT WERE TOTAL AND UTTER BULLCRAP INACCURATE? like, effing almost unintelligible?

honestly, i don't even care right now. i'm sticking this one on the back burner till accurate subs come out. the disparities from what i'm hearing and reading are utterly ruining the immersion and me learning anything about this anime that has NOT been put into the main synopsis of the show.

First of all, I've to say that while I'm glad that subtitle in my language doesn't use machine translate, I still wish I could watch this with English subtitle.

Now for the anime, too bad someone already died, so this is not just a game.
Oh, and I definitely want to watch that Mobius anime, that red hair guy is hot.
I'm not sure how the event in the anime will affect the real world, could this be anime within anime? It's hard to tell from just the first episode. But I'm afraid this will likely fall into a harem situation.

@Possumist ah, my apologies! i didn't mean it as a certain timestamp to be an example. i meant it as a DURATION timestamp of how long i lasted watching ep1 before i quit due to all the craptastical subtitles.

First of all, the translation currently available is awful, but despite the multitude of issues, I could still follow along with the plot of the episode.

With that out of the way, this episode has some real pacing problems. From the opening that skips through its own story beats at breakneck pace to the actual events of the episode, things are happening way too fast. I already feel like I've missed an episode or at least half an episode because of how many events that have been crammed in. Speaking of that opening, I know it's just the series-within-a-series and I imagine it's doing some foreshadowing, but between its spoiler-like reveal of what its heroes are facing and the amount of important-sounding terms thrown out to the audience, the whole sequence left me disoriented about what was going on and concerned about this series. Overall, this isn't the worst execution of a first episode I've ever seen, but I am more inclined to drop the series than to watch the second episode, even though both were released at the same time.

Alright someone finally subbed it properly (ep 1 at least)

I guess they're trying to do the whole VN in 1-cour based on the pacing I'm seeing here which is some pretty fast pacing but I guess it was bound to happen. Don't have any huge expectations of this adaptation but I at least hope they'll do Sora's parts justice because she's truly a one of a kind imouto

Glad I didn't start watching this with apparently unacceptable-level subs.

After checking back on it today I see that at least as of yesterday morning, someone "finally" (wasn't that long a wait, actually) fansubbed it to an acceptable degree, as a sound alternative. So if you're equipped and desire to go the torrenting route, fortunately that's an option now.

I'll watch the actual episode later, but just popping in to say that as I truly do think it's a really terrible thing when these new series, usually unlicensed (or at least unlicensed in any English-speaking country, for English subs) and less known/popular series, have to suffer in the ratings and buzz/word of mouth right out of the gate, just due to awful garbage translations and subtitling which is totally divorced from the original work. There were a few last season which met the same predicament, like Uchuujin Muumuu (still airing now actually, as it's two cour) and The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries. Those weren't as terrible, but rough and flawed at points.

It's the Girls Band Cry scenario, from spring season of last year, all over again.

It's too long-winded in showing their daily lives; the conflict should have been revealed in the second half. If the intention was to leave a cliffhanger to keep the audience curious about what would happen next, then this is a major failure.

The coloring looks like an old anime; I really dislike the hair shading on each character. As for the animation, I don't think there's anything else I can say, as there's nothing special so far.

This anime feels very mysterious, and I want to know more about the statue of the schoolgirl. I don't know if this is a mystery anime or not, as no information is provided here, so I'll consider it a mystery anime for now.

This anime could be either great or average.
And even though I haven't finished similar generic anime, I have faith in it, as I really liked how the pace was handled, although, yes, episode 1 didn't work as well as it should have, as it lacked more uncertainty and excitement in the cliffhanger at the end of the episode.
I tried to post in Spanish — the mods were not amused.
“English only, thank you.” Okay. So much for being used.
“Just copy-paste and click,” they smile, like that will make it right,
But language gates aren’t freedom — they're censorship in white.

yup, nearly a month old and the grey-web streaming sites are still using the poorly translated and terrible English comprehension and writing skills subtitles for ep1 and 2. i'm putting this one on hold till some fansubber that knows what they're doing creates new files. even if only Asian regions are officially streaming this show... i can't believe they couldn't hire SOMEBODY who knows what they're doing with English.

@mnb11 well then somebody needs to tell the 'grey-web' streamers where those files are at. because my fave 2 sites are STILL using the hard-encoded ones outta either Taiwan or China. my #1 site doesn't even have a 'contact us' button or anything anywhere. i'll have to see if i could get in touch with my #2 site and see if they respond. they never do, even for entirely broken or incorrect stuffs. but i can hope.

This is a series you really have to go with one of the fansub versions for. I think that it's a result of the fact that it's one of those series which fell between the cracks for licensing and streaming as far as streaming legally/officially in any English-speaking country. So whatever quasi-official machine-translated English translation was slapped on it from some service in a non-English speaking country is garbage. Just choose fansubs for this and don't look back. It's been picked up by multiple groups for weeks now.
