people like are the only people I give exception to, at least you tried, as opposed asking to skip outright, this first season has two parts, so try part 2 and see how you like it, cause it's a very different series in each part (since every series after is a response to the one that came before). That's why all us JoJo heads see part 1 and 2 as required reading even though most like every other part besides them (though one of my brother's in arms stopped after part 2 cause he doesn't like Stands wholesale).

Well you can skip parts as they are self contained. But I'll still recommend watching it.

You can watch the next part (not next season) without a problem. If you fall in love with the series you can always come to watch the first part.

Second part starts from the 10th episode.

Honestly first part is the weakest excluding a few moments. You can skip it if you don’t mind being clueless about certain topics. If you don’t like season 2, then JoJo is not for you.

I'd say read the 1st part, that way you'll be able to finish it quickly compare to watching it. than start the anime from the 2nd part as its much more fun to watch it.

Yeah, you should watch Season 1. It’s important for understanding the story, the Joestar family tree, and the main antagonists, since they’re still mentioned throughout all of JJBA. Stands aren’t introduced until Stardust Crusaders, so Season 1 (Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency) focuses on Hamon. It might start a bit slow, but it definitely gets way better as it goes.

Everything in later parts happened because of part 1 so, surely yes, you should watch part 1, in release order.

That’s just your opinion lol. Saying JJBA ‘doesn’t get better’ is wild when the series literally changes genres, power systems, and tone every part. If it didn’t click for you, that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean it objectively stays bad.

@kammedy I found that the fact that it changes power systems made absolutely zero sense, especially when Hamon is the better one and Stands make zero sense

That’s fair. I get why the switch seems weird. Hamon was straightforward and easy to follow, but suddenly Stands show up with all these new abilities and rules. It’s a big jump, so it doesn’t land the same for everyone. Araki changed Hamon to Stands because Hamon is limited and mostly the same concept throughout, while each Stand has its own unique power and mechanics, which makes the series more inventive.

@kammedy as far as I can tell, Stands have no mechanics or rules; it’s just a bunch of humanoid ghosts who bend the laws of physics and reality

Stands aren’t like humanoid ghosts, they’re manifestations of a user’s life energy, and only other Stand users can see them, kind of like how in some shows only certain people can see magic or spirits. Pokémon are basically like Stands. Each one has unique powers, limits, and conditions, and only their trainer can command them.

They also have clear rules and mechanics: each Stand has a specific power with limits or conditions, a range, and rules that can be exploited or countered. The fights are basically puzzles based on those rules, which is what makes them so creative and strategic.

Part 1 to a lot of people is the weakest part of JoJo’s but it’s also the shortest so if you can power through it and get to part 2 which is much better than you should

I was in a similar situation, it took me months to go through the first part because it seemed Boring (at that time) but I had belief, that it will good. then, after procrastinating the part 3 for another month. I watched the entire part 3 in 10 days. it was so peak. Just get through it. You will appreciate JoJo after part 3 for sure.

As someone who loves Jojo, i would like to say don't skip anything.
But if you couldn't get through the first season then it's a bit problematic.
I would suggest try watching season 1 again. And if you still think it's not clicking, especially part 2 then I would advise you to just skip jojo, it's not for you.
Cause rest of the jojo is just like part 2 but even more weird.

first season is so short and sets up the whole series. you're gonna miss them being so short and simple though 😂 I don't blame anyone who skips parts, watching anime is a commitment

I mean stands have rules that they follow.
but it's just that many times those rules are very weird and doesn't make whole lot of sense.

Hamon is not even as close to being as good as stand. stands are weird and wacky sometimes pretty useless, sometimes outright broken but that's the best part about them. Atleast for me that's what makes them really intresting.

Listen. Switch it up. Watch the English Dub since it's set in England or something but don't SKIP it. It sets up stuff beyond Part 2 and its important. Part 1 is just 9 episodes just get through it. Trust me it's worth it.

P.S The English Dub team did British Accents for the first season to stay true to the geography of the characters. You can switch back to Japanese in S2/Part 3.

don't skip anything, see if part 2 (ep 10) gets any better for you since it's one of the best parts in the anime, if not, try stardust crusaders, and if it's not for you then jojo is simply not for you

If you want to skip the first season, then just skip the whole anime itself. Why would anyone even ask this question? Do you also skip the first 100 pages of a 300 page book? And then people complain they don't understand shit or nothing makes sense, anime sucks or whatever, well no shit, since you skip the start of it..

I never get how people find part 1 boring. I’ve probably watched it 8 times by now and it’s great, I loved it since the first watch. It’s probably THE most important part as it sets the whole story off and you will not understand the basis of the story without it. Plus the characters and atmosphere of this part are very special, do not skip, you’ll probably regret it if you end up liking the series later.

I mean without this Season, I have no idea how you'd enjoy the series.

This is where Dio gets inteoduced, this is where his grudge begins, how do you enjoy SC, DiU, GW and SO without season 1?

There are some seasons that can be skipped like DiU (it is the best one imo but I'm talking about overall impact on the grander story of JoJo) but part 1? No way.

I'm always a bit shocked when I see people calling Part 1 boring and even suggesting others to skip it. Jonathan is my favourite JoJo, I tought Part 1 was a masterpiece and that the series fell off a bit in Part 3, although it was probably mostly because I wasn't in the mood for parts suddenly going all the way from 12 episodes long to 50 episodes long, plus it becoming pretty episodic, playing out like a "stand of the week". Maybe if I went into it again, knowing that I'll be watching an episodic series that's different from the first 2 parts, I would enjoy it more.
