Without the Golden Age of Animation, there would be no Tezuka, Osamu and Miyazaki, Hayao and pretty much the entirety of japanese animation today or theme parks that celebrate the wonderful world of animation.
I'm actually not sure. It was stated that it was originally going to have 52 episodes like the original 1967 anime, but it ended up with 34 instead. I don't think it was ever clearly stated why it happened. My guess is either cause of ratings or production stuff behind the scenes. But it does seem like it hasn't been that we'll recieved, but I don't understand why. I genuinely thought that it was a great series, and I'd even go as far as to say that it's better than the original.(Not that I don't like the original cause I personally like it too.) People probably didn't like the whole futuristic take on it, sure it may have been very different, but it also manages to be faithful to the original too, and it's definitely way better than some of SRE's crappy Americanized reboots. Genuinely an underrated gem in my opinion.
