My name is Kurt Irving and I got several hobbies. Speaking of hobbies, one of them includes keeping track of non-anime cartoons and so far, I've only seen 165 (I have known cartoons for 26+ years and it would be great if I could talk to long-time cartoon enthusiasts who share the same experience that I do). If you want to know my age, I'll give you a hint, my zodiac is the snake (earth). As you probably know, Valkyria Chronicles is my favorite video game (aside from the two Gungrave games).
How I rate my anime:
7-10 (nice/fantastic/excellent)
4-6 (average/mediocre/tedious)
1-3 (appalling/horrible/unbearable/garbage)
P.S I'm an action comedy fanboy (albeit having a love/hate relationship with shounen) and I love hard bop music. Remember, all entertainment is subjective.
Update: I barely read graphic novels or light novels anyway because I have little time for basic literature
Another update: Let me be frank and tell you that I never liked Kyoto Animation (their anime and what they assume is their absolute best aren't good enough). Sorry but not sorry with absolute sincerity. I.e. that their anime has been boring to me since the 2000s.
2024 update: I'm currently improving my Japanese and ambidextrous writing.
Summer 2024 update: Kiddy Phenil is my other favorite character, I bet most of you dweebs don't even know who she is. Thinking about adding me on Discord? Well then, you must ask first.
Year of the Snake update: Since I started reading Copperhead, I might as well delve into other indie comics. Newer manga have not been given me satisfaction from a theme or narrative standpoint.

I've been wanting to watch the Rose of Versailles movie on Netflix and started it recently, I'm not far in but some things already caught my attention as things that I hope change during the film. It most likely was made with their new policy in mind, people scrolling their phone while watching.
The thing I liked the most about the original series is the art. Manga from the 70's and 80's have a style that is just very beautiful to me plus in this case, especially Riyoko Ikeda's work, is of a different caliber in story telling and dramatic turns. I like most of her work portraying women in a way that is not conventional like Lady Oscar in Rose of Versailles but also the main character in her work Claudine, who is a woman but seems to identify as neither man or woman. For that time i imagine it was pretty daring and refreshing. The story of Oniisama e... is also very dramatic and one of my favourite classic anime.
In Rose of Versailles I also like the portayal of the French Revolution and it's honestly what got me interested in learning more about the era in general. Despite being European and History being a subject in high school where it was just loosely handled, not making it exceptionally interesting for me to get into. I even visited The Palace of Versailles last year because since seeing it in the anime, I always wanted to see the real thing with my own eyes. Of course it didn't disappoint and I look forward to going back to see the quarters and wings in the Palace I didn't get to see then.
I prefer to watch lesser known anime usually but of course there are very familiar and big names on my list too but I tend to lean toward unconventional media.
Hmm I'll keep that in mind with Arc the Lad, also never heard of Solatorobo: Red the Hunter but seem very intriguing on how you describe it. Ooo Zoids, I remember the anime Zoids, I do remember enjoying it.
Hehehe including Lupin characters hehe may throw some references in there.
That's fair, though I will admit I do have friends that drag me into playing Dead by Daylight with them though its not all that scary compared to other horror games. I'm not big on competitive shooters at all. haha
Story-driven wise...I did pick up playing Divinity Original Sins 1 again and started a new play-through of Cyberpunk 2077.
Lately most of the time I am on FFXIV and recently Where Wind Meets with other friends, even then I'm often afk admittedly. hehe
My sleep schedule is pretty all over the place maybe due to a lack of relaxing bedtime story, but what about you? Any other games that have your attention currently?
I noticed all the titles you listed are comics, I haven't read them but they all seem intriguing especially 'Tokyo Ghost'. I may give them a read, but for sure I want to read Tokyo Ghost. I also like the artwork in these too. I have thought about getting and playing through Deus Ex. I seen gameplay before and heard a lot about it, but haven't tried it yet. I also heard of Solty Rei as well.
Honestly I think the most unconventional cyberpunk I dealt with is from a dream I have plans on writing into a story. Its been sticking in my mind since Dec. 2024. Originally I was going to write a cyberpunk-esque story centered around a family, still the case but...want to incorporate that dream though and other existential thoughts I been having regarding it.
Cotton shrinks when you wash it the first time, but it doesn't cling the same way Polyester does either. Plus it is a more breathable fabric.
I've never played any of the Star Ocean games. What year did they release? I did play Cyberpunk 2077 though. I didn't beat it. I got stuck on a mission where it wanted me to meet someone at night, but there was no way to progress the time in the game that I knew of. So I just kind of waited there and it never got dark. So I stopped playing.
I am having to take Vitamin D pills already. I was low in it. I am routinely low in vitamin D. I am not sure why. I am sorry to hear that the air quality is so poor where you live :( that sounds positively awful. Dry and polluted sounds like the worst combination you can get. It makes sense that your condition is tied to the weather and air quality when it is so drastic like that.
This 2026 is starting like sh*t, but I'm still hoping for a better year than 2025 lol...
I have heard of Arc The Lad, but I haven't played it before. Looks interesting, why you ask? One of your favorites?
Mmm I'm open to exploring unconventional cyberpunk, a part of me wonder if I have and maybe didn't think much of it. What examples do you have of unconventional cyberpunk by your standards?
I hadn't heard of those layoffs in the american division of playstation and square enix. I did hear about rockstar laying off a lot of people and some fuss about GTA 6 progress though. I also did not know that Amazon owned IMDB. I dont trust any place that uses paid critics or product testers, to be honest. If you have to pay someone it must not be that good. Ya know?
Isnt aliexpress a chinese company? Isn't that actually worse? Lol. Ive never bought anything there before. I have tried Temu though. Their products are varying in quality, but it is so cheap it is hard to not want to risk it. I have to stop wearing Polyester because of a medical condition I have though which is all Temu and Shien use so no more of that for me.
Are you having fun with heart gold? Heart gold and soul silver are two of my favorite pokemon games. I love being able to go to two regions and also have your partner follow you around. Just a cute gimmick that I appreciate.
My 2026 is going ok so far. I started a new medicine a month ago that makes me sick a lot of the time, but it is supposed to get better as my body gets used to it. How is your 2026 so far? Sorry I missed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
~your worst penpal ever
and I love EVERYTHING about FF7 XD
Wish you a year of happiness,
health, and new beginnings.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :)
