Epitome of a butterface anime. Visually pretty, but everything—literally EVERYTHING—else is lacking to an almost surprising degree.
My Status as an Assassin… started out decent, even compelling, but after a few episodes it felt like the plot points were forgotten. I can’t even tell you what happened between episodes 5-12 except that an assassin and an elf fell in love and… yeah, that’s all I got. Nothing else happened.
I think if they had condensed these 12 episodes into 5 or 6, removing all the filler and rearranging plot point introductions to include only those necessary at this point, then the story may have progressed alright. Who knows? I wasn’t interested enough in what was provided to seek out the novel or manga to continue the story (for context, I probably do this for 70% of anime I watch—it takes more to disinterest me than to catch my attention).
Even a 5 rating is being generous to the poor pace of storytelling.
