Re: Re: Release Managers for PHP 8.1
I am interested in helping with the Release Manager role for the next
release of PHP.
I like a lot of the ideas being discussed here around the role, such as;
- The idea of having a couple of rookie Release Managers to one veteran
would be nice. Then when the role for the next Release Manager comes up,
letting one (or both) of the rookie(s) step up as the veteran and giving
the other rookie the option to pair again also with a "fresh rookie". That
might be getting a little complicated and it defeats the purpose of not
having any Release Manager have that large of a time commitment but maybe
something worth discussing.
- I love the idea of streaming this process, or as Harm suggested,
making Youtube videos. I think that would pay off a ton in the future for
people who might be willing and interested. Speaking for myself, throwing
my hat in this ring terrifies me for several reasons but one is that I am
not 100% clear I understand everything required but I had the opportunity
to speak with Sara and Gabriel in the past and they were very inspiring
and made it sound like this is approachable.
The typical disclaimers that I see posted here apply to me as well. I am
not a C developer and have major imposter syndrome (which I fear I prove is
less and less a "syndrome" and more fact every day), and the idea of
screwing up the next release of PHP is almost paralyzing.
