Call up the radio, wake up the world Phone in a song with the name a girl Cruising melodies, that I will turn up for the drive My heart’s in stereo, my heart’s in stereo, My mind’s alive. Salad days dialling a 10-99 Calling in favours and falling in line My eyes are telescopes, As we search horizon skies My heart’s in stereo, my heart’s in stereo, My mind’s alive. Climbing the palace with nowhere to go To sit by the serpentine after the show Bemused by pelicans, as we watch those seabirds dive My heart’s in stereo, my heart’s in stereo, My mind’s alive. Wait ’til you get to the end of the dial Wait ’til you get to the solid state line Wait ’til you get to the bit where you smile Wait ’til you get to the point that I’ve been saying all this time My heart’s in stereo, My heart’s in stereo My light’s alive Staging a miracle, blazing a path Wave from the window and sleep in the bath Raise the periscope for the Cape Canaveral crash My heart’s in stereo, my heart’s in stereo, My mind’s alive. My heart’s in stereo My heart’s in stereo My alive My heart’s in stereo My light’s alive

Love is a line That you’re holding on Slipping away on lies you’re falling on Love is a time That you’re counting on Too many numbers you’ve been calling on, on and on Happenstance will find yourself A second chance She said, “Here’s to you” and “Hear the truth, the other one, another one!” I know you know, you know I know, you know I know, you know I know You know, I know, it’s now ipso facto I think, you know I know Love is a kiss that don’t mean a thing Love is a lie and you’ve been taken in Love is a touch that you need so much Never the answer that you tried to say, I couldn’t say Playing dead We never have to talk about She said, “hang you’re head, and sort it out I won’t become, the other one” I know you know, you know I know, you know I know, you know I know You know, I know, It’s now ipso facto I know, you know I know I know you, you know, I don’t know about you, I hope you know its true I know you know, you know I know, you know I know, you know I know You know, I know, It’s now ipso facto I think, you know I know I know you, you know, I don’t know about you, I hope you know I do

It’s no trouble is it? No trouble at all It’s no bother is it? No bother at all No worries you can save my soul tonight Don’t bother with it Don’t bother at all There’s no money in it? No money at all Don’t worry you can take it all tonight It’s no worry is it? No worries at all No secret is it? Mind body and soul No telling now I’ve heard it all all tonight Up on the hill Someone said the One eyed city Needs no pity Now, on the hill Left for dead The one eyed city Sitting pretty It’s all over is it? All letters to fall It’s all rumours is it? I’m out of control Don’t think that you have heard it all tonight Up on the hill Someone said the One eyed city Needs no pity Now, on the hill Left for dead The one eyed city Sitting pretty Out nn the rocks Daily bread The head on the highway On the rocks, this town has been built on On the rocks, this blood has been spilt on And I’ve heard all all tonight Up on the hill Someone said the One eyed city Needs no pity Now, on the hill Left for dead The one eyed city Sitting pretty Up on the hill The one eyed city’s heard it all tonight

Yes I know, yes I know, yes I know I read your letter Now I know, now I know, now I know, I must forget her Uut it all behind her ‘Til a final reminder Yet again, yet again, yet again Those tears will find her On a phone, on a pen on a page She turns inside her To the pillow beside her Like a final reminder Now I know, now I know, now I know, what they’ve all been saying Yet again, yet again yet again, this heart needs repaying For the sadness behind her Lies a final reminder Never mind, never mind, never mind Just what you’re saying I don’t mind, I don’t mind, I don’t think so What you think that you know, but you don’t know So I know, yes I know yes I know I got your letter But you’re reading it wrong, don’t you see I Could not let her Leave us all to find her Like a final reminder

What good is this ampersand, When all its subjects slip through your hands, And all things bright and beautiful Fall away? What use is the comic sans, When all good humour’s sinking in sand, And all things wide and wonderful Slip away? But seraphim called, Seraphim phoning for you Seraphim called Wondered what you wanna hear Said “all things have a way they ought to appear" What good, is this rubber band, When all it’s spring has tied up your hands? But seraphim called, Seraphim phoning for you Seraphim called Wondered what you wanna hear Said all things have a way they ought to appear

One Minute 03:19
One minute the next thing you know Another minute One minute the next thing you know Another minute One minute is gone and the next is along in one minute One minute, racing away, another minute Each tick of the arm, to the wake up alarm, in one minute I can only make it faster We don’t even need it after all You can only take so much until we start to fall For one minute the next thing you know Another minute One minute the next thing you know Another minute One minute is gone and the next is along in one minute I can only make it faster We don’t even need it after all You can only take so much until we start to fall So godspeed my deadbeats Could it be We’re in luck again? Hot-seats And heartbeats Could it be I’m in luck again? Heart-bleeds on Mainstreet Could it be Your dumb luck again? For one minute, racing away, another minute Each tick of the arm, to the wake up alarm, in one minute I can only take apart of this We don’t even need it after all You can only take so much until we start to fall So godspeed my deadbeats Could it be We’re in luck again? Hot-seats and Heartbeats Could it be Your dumb luck again? So take them in the rat-race And shove it in their fat face So play the game and say your name as well One minute, racing away, another minute Each tick of the arm, to the wake up alarm, in one minute

Steal Away 03:33
Once and forever Say it right, may you never regret Under the weather, Head ain’t right, is it ever? I know, said it all before I think it’s time to Smile like you mean it All the while, in between it’s all Style over substance Never breaks these constants I know, put it all to bed, This time we’ve really got to go So steal away On the radi-oh contraire! On the frigid air Speak like you mean it Spilling truth, like you’ve seen it Before, like an old flame Gets you back, when you dream it I’m sure, in the back of your mind This time it’s really time to go…. So steal away On the radi-oh contraire! On the frigid air Blind summits never peak Don’t think what you should speak, now No true love said in jest Fights a corner Over time just Fades out with the rest So steal away On the radi-oh contraire! On the frigid air I know On the radi-oh contraire Take me anywhere I know

Tired eyes can’t see when you’re letting go and I’ve forgotten more than you’ll ever know so take a moment, Take your time, I’m out-of-sorts tonight And I won’t ask to call on the Friends you know Hours pass and onto the Last we go Got me thinking Set me straight, I’m Out-of-sorts tonight No-one remembers numbers anymore Left me wondering what all this counting for So keep it simple Keep if quick If all roads lead to home Tides don’t wait forever Don’t want to to stay around too long And so I guess it’s now or never, Been away too long I began to follow a step behind Steading paces guiding a tired mind Keep it brief Is cold relief when All roads led to home Tides don’t wait forever Don’t want to to stay around too long And so I guess it’s now or never, Been away too long I won’t ask to get up and dance tonight Try to focus, follow the flashing lights Saving graces Lose you place when All roads led to home Tides won’t wait forever Don’t want to to stay around too long And so I guess it’s now or never, so take these hands we hold together Until you say it’s now or never, Now that all roads lead to home

Well they say blood’s thicker than water Tell that to the ocean’s daughter On a wave she sends me out to sea, goodbye, good bye When they weigh souls, put them in order With the wife he once adored her On a shelf, in woods, a walk with friends Beside the sea Good night good bye This lullaby We’ll send you on your way Goodnight, goodbye, goodbye Seems some good nights do go gentle And at times inconsequential Counting spoons, and beeps and lights and moons, Beside of me Good night good bye This lullaby We’ll send you on your way Goodnight, goodbye, goodbye Well they say blood’s thicker than water Leaving friends and sons and daughters In this way you never say goodbye, Goodnight, goodbye

about

An 11-song psych-pop odyssey from the Croydon craftsman—cinematic, tuneful, and drenched in retrofuturist color.

Nick Frater’s twelfth full-length doesn’t just revisit the past—it rebuilds it. "Oh Contraire!" imagines a world where the Sixties never ended and Abbey Road’s Studio 2 is still buzzing with analog dreams. Horn fanfares crash into cosmic synths. Velvet harmonies float over twangy guitars. From the orchestral blast of “Fanfare” to the aching finale “Goodnight, Goodbye”, every track feels sculpted and sincere. Frater’s melodic instincts remain razor-sharp, while Adam Mallett’s kaleidoscopic artwork turns the whole package into a portal. This is pop maximalism with heart.

Audiophile or armchair dreamer—these grooves are for you.
