Screenshot of Bluesky posts: Jacob Geller (@jacobgeller.com) It must be hard to be an artist working Hades II, given how much time they'd spend with their eyes popping out and their tongues rolling out and hitting themselves in the head with a cartoon hammer as they shouted awooga. (It includes a screenshot of dialog with Melinoe, Princess of the Underworld, who is giving bedroom eyes and appears nude, at least from the torso up - but does not have any cleavage on display) Jacob Geller (next post) still thinking about how many games at SGF were the same incredibly boring version of honry and how much more mileage Hades it getting out of like, showing a collarbone Lady Emily (@ladyemily.nebulat.tv) It's the difference between drawing the societal expectation of horny versus what's actually horny, people who have heard the terms T&A and never really thought harder than thatALT

So this came up a while ago, and it’s definitely not the first time that its been noticed that there is a wide disparity between over sexualized, and what people find sexy.

This was again particularly highlighted when Capital-G Gamers got mad that Ghost of Yotei was designed with story and gameplay in mind over sexualization and pandering.

I present to you, memes posted unironically by that crowd:

A "Japanese girl in American game vs American girl in Japanese game" meme The Japanese girl is Atsu, from Ghosts of Yotei (2025), and so is a high definition model based on actress Erika Ishii in a kimono suitable for fuedal japan, with katanas. The American girl is Tina Armstrong from Dead or Alive 5 (2012), and so is a low poly cartoony blonde girl with a stars-and-stripes bikini top and a cowboy hat.ALT
A "Designed With Gamers In Mind" vs "Designed With Activists In Mind" meme It's the same iamge of Atsu, but the "Gamers" one has been run through several yassification filters to give her an unnatural doll-like face and the kind of bust that is only possible through extra-large, high profile breast augmentations.ALT

(This crowd is still mad couldn’t Erika Ishii removed from the game, even though they did succeed in harassing a developer into unemployment over a joke.)

The upside of this is, it did lead to some of the funniest actual satire I’ve seen in a while.

A "Designed With Activists In Mind" vs "Designed With Gamers In Mind" meme The Activisits is the default Mario from Super Mario Bros, the "Gamers" has a poorly edited on pair of boobs almost falling out of a bikini top.ALT
A "Designed With Gamers In Mind" vs "Designed With Activists In Mind" meme The subject is Withers from Baldur's Gate 3, who is a mummified corpse in grandiose attire. In the Gamers version he inexplicably has huge boobs visible under his robes.ALT

And in case you’re wondering, yes Withers Big Naturals is a real mod, and one of the most popular ones.

A joke gif, showing Shigero Miyamoto speaking with the caption of "Video games were a mistake. They're nothing but trash."ALT

Still stand by this, btw. So much of the “sexiness” these type of gamers desire is the equivalent of a teenage boy going through puberty and putting the chest and hips sliders on the character creator as high as they can go with no deeper thought

Like the reason why the Hades 2 Melione bathhouse art is hotter than the Ass Creed Shadows big boob edit is that the exposed collarbones and expression on her face create a sense of intimacy that is inherently alluring and enticing, versus this

Where like… okay the boobs are big and she has makeup now but… so what? It’s a woman with big boobs. I like big boobs. I am a woman with big boobs. But this is just so generic, so thoughtless, with no actual tease or sensuality to it that it means nothing, does nothing, to anyone who isn’t just approaching art from a checklist of DOES THE WOMAN LOOK HOT
