Absolutely useless overseas call center. All I wanted to was to ask 2 basic questions on a new policy i got an online quote for. AAMI have chosen now to use an overseas call center with untrained staff who dont understand the policies or even what is covered. I Have been on hold for about 20 minutes while they are looking for somone who may know. If you cant keep a call center in Australia with knowledgable staff then I dont want to deal with you

Have home and contents insurance with AAMI. I thought I was covered. As it turns out when you loose your 65" Plasma TV to a lightning strike, you have to pay the $600 dollar excess and cop the TV they replace it with! A cheap LCD variant work $900. So I told them I have a Plasma, it was worth $4000 when I bought it and I would like an equivalent which is OLED now. They told me they can only supply me with a TV from their suppliers. So, 900 - 600 = $300! So totally not worth it, shit service, the assessor couldn't speak English properly and I told them to jam it. Not insuring with AAMI ANYMORE!

Very bad service , AAMI using a doggy contractors for roadside service and they damaged my car and AAMI don’t take any responsibility.bad service

Want to lose your car and your money? Go with AAMI so they can send your car of to JV repairs where they will send it to the salvage yard without notifying you while a claims expert from overseas tells you your car is being repaired.
Then after you raise it with a solicitor aami will make a poor attempt at fixing the issue by repeatedly lying and offering you half of the cars market value. (This was all from a low speed not at fault minor accident I may add)

Worst experience I have ever had in relation to insurance! A AAMI insured driver drove into our commercial loading dock door and totally destroyed it . That driver did notify AAMI but of course I had to deal with the whole situation as the driver washed his hands of it and left it to me to organise a replacement. AAMI were absolutely useless and wouldn’t answer my calls or even respond to my emails . I won’t go into the gory details but they were absolutely pathetic and it was a very stressful time . Do NOT ever insure with AAMI !!!!!

Be careful people, seems they don’t have money to cover you if there is an incident, I have a claim with them and everything is ready and all the quotes are ready from their own contractor and my contractor and they don’t want to finalise the claim and tell me how they want to fix or pay it. Their staff are like robots that just read from a pre-made description to mock you around and waste your time and not pay for your damage.
Stay away from this mub!

The worst experience I ever had with insurance companies is this one so please before you spend your money with this company try to find if that’s if there’s a decent insurance company out there I guarantee you you will not find a decent one but maybe better than Amy maybe

Very poor customer handling and repeated waste of my time for the same reason. This has happened to me twice. I would not recommend this insurance company to anyone.

AAMI Made it super easy to take out a income protection policy then absolutely ground me down when it came to paying it out when I got cancer. They requested all my pay information, BAS statements, invoices, Bank Statements etc. When I provided everything they wanted they said they could only pay out on the previous year because my tax return for the current year hadn’t been lodged yet. Conveniently opting for the lesser figure.
Then they trudged through 3 years prior medicare history questioning every single transaction/appointment with the hope that there was a reason for a prior illnesses that I had to void making a payment. If you’re considering a policy with this heartless company, don’t expect to receive any kind of payout in the first two months of putting in a claim.

Worst insurance, makes you wait on phone for an hour and tells you will take 90 min for tow truck. Then tow truck comes in 3 hours while you sit on the car in the middle of Sydney. Avoid it like plague.

I called out a mobile electrician to fix my reverse camera, but instead he's burnt the main wiring harness, after the car was unable drive. I lodged insurance claim to AAMI and Suncorp declined because I'm let the electrician drive my car. That's not true, the car wasn't move a bit. It's happened 21/08/2025.

Save your honor, reputation or prestige.

They do everything to dishonor and put blame on you and threaten. Worst experience with your policies, it a punishment to buy insurance with you as, you have to only choose worst car repairer of their choice - Capital Smart Repairers who closes at 4pm where all the repairer normally close 5pm and are the biggest liars. No one told us or gave any written instructions about car drop policy.

AMMI want to use online more, but their system is broken most of time.

Last time have to wait for more 30min to talk to someone, what if there is any urgent query in case of accident.

For sure, it will be last time will be buying your services and will definitely not recommend to anyone known. Also don’t do anything about this review and keep it as you are working so, Suncorp Company rethink of why they have to pay you.

Terrible company. Direct debit did not come out of our account even though it is active and always has money in it. Did not call us to let us know - just blamed us and then cancelled our insurance, which now affects our premiums with other insurance companies. Customer service does not exist anymore.

Horrible and faceless company!
We are one of the contractors of a building site in kew. It seems the builders temp fence damaged their clients car due to the wind. They were not able to find builders contact details then took our number on the fence and alleged our liability for the damage. Only knew this story after calling them as they sent us ridiculous letter of demand without any basis. Very shocked they would pursue such case to an unrelated party, the worse case is they kept chasing us even after we told them to stop. This proves to me it must their company policy and for this im giving them a 1 star review!

AAMI left me car less when I went to pick up the hire car. As a not at fault driver, they did not tell me that the hire car would not be insured and the excess would be $2750 should anything happen during the time AAMI are repairing my car. It's unreasonable for non policy holders to be out of pocket if they want a hire car without excess or large excess.

Had they advised me 2 months ago I would not have accepted their booking and went with a not at fault provider.

I thought I was doing AAMI a favour by letting them arrange a hire car for me but they left me car less at the SIXT reception.

Never go with AAMI if you are the not at fault party.

They ripped us and deregistered our vehcile for no reason except that they said it was economically too expensive to fix - got second opinion from another panel beater who said once he took the front end off the car had clearly been damaged further by someone and said AAMI are the worst - dont trust them, will make your impact worse to make your car a write off!! dodgy dodgy people.

We didn't have roadside assistance on our car insurance policy (our fault). My pregnant wife was a long way from home and needed help. I called AAMI to add roadside assistance and get help. They refused. They were happy for my pregnant wife and unborn baby to risk their lives on the road.

We have had the worst experience ever. We have been dealing with AAMI trying to get our insurance refund that they said they had refunded to us to our credit card first which we didn’t receive. Then they changed their mind and told us they sent it back into our home loan account, which was already closed so we rang them back and showed them. The evidence has been closed and to refund us to our credit card or check whatever works. They will not refund us anything and will not show us any proof that they have paid into that account. they are thieves they owe me over $800 and we have had the worst customer service ever. I am taking this further. I’m going to see AAAC I’ve had enough.!!!

There are many facets to insurance and on one hand, their roadside assist (used twice) was very, very good. Unmarked Ute came and the mechanic was well equipped and friendly. Fixed my problem on both occasions quickly (no not a dumb out of fuel or flat battery). The claims department on the other hand is outsourced and read from a script. If it’s outside the norm, they don’t listen or understand and you go round and round banging your head against the wall.

Panel repair are performed by wherever your local panel beaters are which are independent anyway so some could have a good experience and some bad but tell aami and they’ll send you to another one.

AAMI themselves are terrible to deal with so they get a 1. All the panel beaters and road side assists people have been great
