I ordered what was advertised as a plush toy
I ordered what was advertised as a plush toy from this store (currently also operating under the name “Nuggy Dream”).
What I received instead was a small, hard plastic item, the size of my hand, meant to stick on a wall, absolutely nothing like the product photos.
When I contacted customer service, the situation became worse:
• First they offered a 10% discount, then 15%, then 20% for the next purchase.
• Then, they instructed me to return the item to China, filling out forms and paying shipping costs, even though the website is in German and lists a Dutch address that is clearly a fake address.
I refused because the item was not what I ordered, and I should not have to pay international return costs or complete unnecessary forms.
I opened a dispute through PayPal. The same pattern repeated: I was put in contact with an intermediary (“Haus Mode”), who repeated the offers (10% and requests to send to China). I stated I would return the item only if provided with a prepaid shipping label to a valid EU address, since I did not buy from a China-based seller. They then offered a 50% refund, which I rejected because I did not receive the product advertised.
After a long back-and-forth, PayPal ultimately secured a full refund. Without buyer protection, I doubt I would have recovered my money.
This is clearly a scam.
My advice to others:
If you end up in the same situation, mention clearly that you will report the issue to the Dutch authorities if necessary, and reject any discounts, insist on receiving the correct product or a full refund.
A refund through PayPal is possible (that is how I finally got mine). If you paid by credit/debit card, check your consumer protection options as well.
