VERY inconsistent.
VERY inconsistent! You can tell they are run by a circus because one day they say something and the next day or even just a few hours later they send another email with another update or something that contradicts the last email.
Very limited training and sometimes the training itself is lackluster which can occasionally earn you low scoring reviews -for their poor training video and then they issue a new update on proper techniques to complete the task even though they issued the wrong directives from the beginning...
They will periodically issue you a refresher task to assess your skills. You'll pass it and then next day you'll get an email saying you've been removed from the project with no explanation whatsoever. And then a month later you'll receive an email saying hey, we welcome you back to the project. You'll work for a few more weeks and then get another email out of the blue saying you've been removed from the project with no explanation.
Customer support is slow and nearly unhelpful more than half the time. They really need to improve the experience for tasker. A lot of people rely on this extra income and it's so inconsistent and so frustrating that they just can't even give you some basic communication and feedback. You are definitely on your own. There is nobody there rooting for you. There's nobody there to advocate for you. They need to provide better feedback when it comes to reviews.
The positives are there's usually some interesting tasks that keep you busy. About $17 an hour. Not too bad to sit at home and bang out some tasks for an hour or two and call it a day.
Outlier AI - Terrible work environment
!NOTICE! Notice how all the positive reviews here have the invited tag on them, meaning the company specifically invited those people to review here, probably paid to do so, FAKE REVIEWS on top of other shady practices! Outlier AI wants you to complete tasks that have vague or even contradictory instructions. They routinely remove annotators without warning and without explanation. They do not have a technical support feature anywhere to get a hold of someone to help with any issues you may encounter. It seems like a great opportunity at first but what ever you do DO NOT RELY ON THEM FOR INCOME. Horrible place to work.
In my first month of contributing on…
In my first month of contributing on the Outlier platform, I earned over $2500. Why the noise? Who said Outlier is a scam?
Out is 100% legit
Engaging and stimulating
Outlier genuinely engages and stimulates me mentally. I never thought I would need to know the names of so many everyday household items until I started tasking here, and I actually enjoy the challenge. The work is interesting, keeps you on your toes, and payment is always on time, down to the penny. Overall, it has been a very solid and rewarding experience.
Best freelance platform for ever
I have worked with outlier for a while…
I have worked with outlier for a while now and my experience has been superb! The work is real, tasks are clearly explained and I have always been paid consistently for the work I have completed every week. The outlier community is also helpful as they give assistance on how to cope with challenging tasks. If you put in the effort and follow instructions, you get paid. I recommend this platform 100%
Don't trust this place
As someone who has been working for this place for two years, just run away now. Don't look back. There was probably a golden age of this type of work on this platform in the beginning, because they were laying the honey on thick. Now that they have us all trapped and dependent on them for work, they know they can slowly strip back everything that once made this place great. Rates are tanking daily, skills that have been thoroughly vetted are being stripped from longtime contributors, and that's even if you're lucky enough to receive work in the first place. They have 0 dedication to the people who make their business even possible and don't even take the time to even share hollow appreciation to those who have stuck it out with them all this time.
PS: Don't trust the 5 star reviews you see here either. They frequently send out emails to their contributor base begging people to leave good reviews here, often with a monetary value attached. The majority of the perfect review scores are a sign of the desperation of their workforce trying to make a couple bucks while they're being denied income anywhere else on their platform.
My experience with Outlier
I have been working on Outlier since July 2024, and so far, I have not faced any kind of problem. I have explored other platforms as well, but Outlier stands out as the best among them. It is very supportive in every aspect.
Outlier a Dream Come True
Outlier has been a highly impactful and a really fulfilling experience for me. The platform is very educative, and the variety of tasks has given me valuable insights into data annotation, leveling schemes, and various program structures. Each project has helped me improve my analytical skills and attention to detail while expanding my understanding of how high-quality data supports AI systems. Beyond the learning experience, I’ve genuinely enjoyed working on Outlier, and the consistent pay has been reliable and meaningful, helping me cover most of my bills. Overall, Outlier has contributed positively to both my professional growth and personal stability. The icing on the cake is that it is flexible and I can work at any time I want to which is perfect and suits most comfortably to my schedule.

Outlier has provided a unique opportunity for continuous growth. Through my work, I am consistently able to refine my skills, acquire new knowledge, and earn meaningfully. I'm grateful for the platform that transforms every task into a valuable learning experience.
Outlier is the real deal
Outlier is the real deal, although I have been removed from the project I was working on, and haven't been added to any projects since, I made over $3600 in January, I was paid automatically every Wednesday morning, without fail, ITS NOT A SCAM.
Legit platform with reliable payments
I’ve been using Outlier for a while now, and honestly it’s been a really good experience. The tasks are clear and flexible, which makes it easy to work around my schedule. It’s helped me earn extra income without feeling overwhelmed, and the payments have always been reliable. I also like that the work actually helps improve my thinking and attention to detail. Overall, it feels like honest work on a legit platform, and I’m glad I found it.
Genuine platform, real work, reliable payment
Outlier is a platform which helped me sustain myself during a complicated financial period in 2025. I'm signed up with various AI training platforms, however, there's none as professional and organised as Outlier. As a freelancer, I especially appreciate the transparent and reliable system they have in place, giving you access to your earnings once a week.
Project availability varies, however, the community is a great place to exchange ideas and tipps, not just how to work on different projects but also how to work most efficiently.
The downside is that sometimes it takes a long time for support to reply to issues, and they are not always able to resolve the issue in a satisfactory manner. Furthermore, rates are sometimes not consistent throughout the project but rather set according to location, which I find a bit unfair as we're all do the same job. Having said all this though, in comparison with other platforms Outlier is still the best that's out there.

Everything automated doesn't help with actual talent spotting.
I received my contractual offer in September 2024. At that time, my primary full-time job was extremely demanding, which made it difficult for me to fully onboard and navigate the platform right away. It took me some time to catch up, especially once my personal situation became more challenging. Throughout this entire journey, I want to be very clear about one thing: I have immense respect for the community managers, project managers, and every interaction I have had with the support team. In my personal experience, every individual I interacted with was consistently kind, empathetic, and professional. I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity and for the people behind it.
The difficulty I have faced has not been with people, but with systems. As an English-locale contributor whose geography does not strictly align with EN regions, I have repeatedly been routed into multilingual groups and non-English projects. I am not comfortable or confident tasking in languages I have not been formally screened for, even if I have some exposure to them. My education, professional background, and strongest competencies are in English. Despite having relevant skills clearly listed on my dashboard, including technical ones, I have consistently been misrouted to projects that do not align with my verified profile. This has limited my ability to contribute meaningfully and has made the experience far more stressful than it needed to be.
I have raised this multiple times with support and quality managers, who have been understanding, but the issue appears to be rooted in automated routing and configuration rather than human decision-making. My sincere feedback is that the platform would benefit greatly from more human review in contributor matching, especially in nuanced cases, instead of relying primarily on geography or automated classification. With better alignment, contributors like me could add real value rather than feeling boxed in by system behaviour.
I still appreciate the opportunity and the people involved. I hope this feedback is taken in the spirit it is intended: constructive, respectful, and focused on improving a system that has strong potential but clear gaps.
important process
it was the seamless process of working with the system and great support when needed
Outlier is a good way to make side…
Outlier is a good way to make side money if you have expertise in a specific field (e.g., Master’s degree). You also need to have strong English skills. The pay rate depends on the project and your country.
There are some great projects with professional teams and good pay. However, other projects pay less and don't provide clear feedback. It’s better to decline the low-rate tasks.
Payment comes every week; it is based on your results. The biggest downside is the instability—you never know if you will have work tomorrow. You might lose a project because of one mistake in a test, or a good project might just end suddenly. Sometimes there is no work for a month or two.
I recommend trying it. It can be a very helpful source of income during difficult times.
This platform has changed my life
This platform has changed my life. It made me believe in myself and my skills, applied them in the right way. It helped me escape from my toxic 9-5, and I can't be more grateful for this opportunity, especially since I live in a country where doctors are paid so very little. This platform gave me the biggest opportunity.
I get so overwhelmed and cry sometimes.
