My home charger has a fault
My home charger has a fault. They are impossible to contact. 3 times I have filled in their online form- no response whatsoever
Charging failed. Inaccurate info on Shell App
Payment was successfully reserved by card, and by app on two different chargers at ALDI, Grangetown but charge didn't start on either. Curiously, the Aldi chargers are shown on the Shell recharge app map, but not on the Shell App map.
This is quite literally the worst…
This is quite literally the worst Customer service I have ever experienced. My Shell home charging point has been broken for weeks, and trying to get a simple repair or even a working phone number is impossible.
Shell has supposedly 'migrated' their support to a company called 50five, but neither side seems to take responsibility. You get passed from one incorrect number to another, and nobody can actually fix the hardware. If you are considering a home charger, avoid Shell Recharge at all costs. They are happy to take your money for the installation but completely abandon you the moment the equipment fails. Absolute disaster.
Customer service is ZERO
Customer service is ZERO. Unreachable. After 20 minute wait I spoke to a someone who was less than helpful. Awful awful awful. Tried again a few times but hung up each time after a 15 minute wait. I give up and Shell Recharge can go to ----.
EV Charging UK
The EV charging station in Knutsford, UK is a terrible waste of time, or was when I tried (and failed) to use it in December 2025. The one at Easington Services, also in the UK, is *much, much better. However, the amount of time it takes Shell to unblock the prepayment amount (GBP55) to your card is unconscionable and on this basis, I couldn't recommend it. It feels a bit like a legacy oil behemoth has arrived very late to the evolutionary picnic and hasn't any real idea what to do other than what it has always done.
Misleading information
Awful customer service. Misleading information about charging points and charging methods. Just stay away
Shell Recharge's charging speed is…
Shell Recharge's charging speed is often slow.

The worest Shell ellectric charge
The worest Shell ellectric charge
They're charged me 3time 55 + 43 I used my car charged 7/1/26 still didn't refund my money how they take money that you didn't used.
It's steeling
App reviews show repeated error FOR the email registration link
App reviews show repeated error FOR MONTHS with the e mail link that is needed to register in the 1st place. So you are completely stuck, also with a 2nd e mail tried. Completely ignored by the app-developers. I though I would never write that Shell is a company that could not care less about their clients.
Shell are no different to all the…
Shell are no different to all the rest..every man and his dog are jumping on the EV charging gravy train... Only way to truly get value for money is to charge at home and plan your journeys accordingly.
Most take a pre charge of £50 which is unfair as the technology knows what you've used.
Useless..
Useless... slow. expensive and an absolute pain to get a VAT receipt

Shell Recharge is a complete scam
Shell Recharge is a complete scam. A card that is well accepted to charge your car, but at a prize that is completely over the top.
Having a subscription without a monthly fee I excepted an extra fixed charge on top of my usage for every time I used Shell Recharge. Now the scam kicks in, Shell Recharge also is charging (doubling the amount) extra for the KWh you charge. How I found out? I have my own private charger, paid and installed by me, using my electricity. The amount I invoice the companies like for example Shell Recharge is EUR 0.28 for every kWh used. Shell Recharge is invoicing me for my own electricity EUR 0.55 per kWh charged at my privately owned charger, double. Why I use an external party on my own charger? Having a company car I need an external invoice for billing reasons, that is why I am currently using Shell Recharge. Not for long anymore as I ordered a much cheaper alternative. Even without paying the costs invoiced by Shell myself at the end, this is not acceptable. Please consider the costs when considering Shell Recharge as there are many cheaper alternatives.
Disgusting service
It’s a ripoff
They charge in some of their stations £55 pre-authorization fee with no refund issued to you unless you raise complaints and escalations many times to get them to look into it to refund you
Will never use them again
No one to deal with, you get stuck with live chat which never been helpful and they play with you as they can’t receive your texts and no phone nothing when it comes to money hit your head to the nearest wall
My Shell NewMotion home charger has…
My Shell NewMotion home charger has developed a fault. It’s now impossible to phone Shell Recharge for help - you need to raise the issue via a web form. Shockingly bad response time (still waiting for Shell to contact me after 8 weeks!!). Avoid Shell Recharge at all costs. Customer service is non-existent .
Charger was not working
Charger was not working, spent 20min on the line and no one picked up the phone.
Charging terminated after about 30…
Charging terminated after about 30 seconds, with no explanation. Tried to resume/restart a new session, but declined debit card with "Additional customer warning". Return home to find a pending £55 preauthorisation charge on my bank account - which a human/chat bot assures should disappear in a couple of days"!
Don't use Shell Recharge
My old charge cards were blocked for some reason. I applied for a new one and followed their instructions to activate... very simple but there was no way to activate. Never mind.. i called their helpline on the paperwork they sent. It says "questions about activating your charge card call our customer service UK 0800 731888. They said it's not our job and use chatbot. That was useless but managed to get through to a Live Agent. She was helpful for a while but then just went offline before matter resolved. Tried again and same result.
I'm leaving them and looking elsewhere.
Shell's annual gross profit for 2024 was $75.119 billion, a 9.83% decrease compared to 2023. Operating Income: Shell's operating income for 2024 was $29.992 million compared to $30.737 million in 2023.
No possible way to charge my car, costs me €500 and still upgoing.
I lost my charge card, so I blocked it.
But there is now no way to get a new card or activate my own home charger.
Ordering a card does not work, because they have a new app, but it only works there in the future. What?
I have been trying to contact them for over a week. But do not get any response.
Now I have been charging at Fastned for the 10 days. My car is my business, my living and my income. So I have no choice. But this cost me over €500 untill now. I am desperate and furious on how this company treats their clients and offer no quick solution.
The transfer to 50five and their new app is horrible and full of faults.
Absolutely dreadful
Absolutely dreadful. Had to download 2 apps that wouldn’t work, QR codes wouldn’t work. Utterly dreadful waste of time and money
