Awful customer service
Awful customer service - given incorrect information by customer service agent about credit card fees for a card I have with HSBC. Took 45 minutes of chat to keep getting wrong information. Irresponsible and unprofessional

HSBC - 5 star bank that should be 10 stars
HSBC for me personally is one of the best banks in Britain, I joined these guys four years ago and have never looked back. An incident occured yesterday where I had lost my card and the customer service team acted swiftly and responded to my situation with the up most professionalism and integrity ensuring that my card was frozen and blocked and were very caring and understanding of the situation. Not all heroes wear capes.
HSBC YOU ROCK!!!
Stressed out dispute team.
If you have a dispute, or problem you need help with. Dont call the dispute team. They are a very stressed out bunch of people who will not help you with youre problem. They are stressed, and will place you on a 2 minute hold to calm you down, when its them that are the stressed ones. Its like they are placing you in a naughty corner for 2 minutes, while they can have a break from you. Useless bunch.
Awful
Awful, can't log in, app keeps showing a fault and asked to take ID into a branch which is 10 miles away. Closed my current account 9 years ago because of it and it's just as bad today. Absolutely rank.
I absolutely hate HSBC
I absolutely hate HSBC. Been with them a long, long time. Lots of problems, complaints etc. but I've stuck with it. Today, they refused me a personal loan even though I have an excellent credit rating. Apart from being passed from one person to another, holding on for 20 minutes, being given wrong information. I have now decided enough is enough. Goodbye HSBC. Our relationship, that never was, has ended.
The security protocols the bank uses…
The security protocols the bank uses must have been decided why Noah was at work. Amongst the security questions: "when did you last log on". Who on earth remembers that. Try and talk to someone and you are subjected to numerous security questions, just to talk. They really don't want customers to contact them, and even worse they don't listen and don't care. Anyway, I was going to invest quite a large sum with them, but will not now.
Absolute amateurs
Trued for over a month to get a loan ( for less than I already had in the bank) every second day I got an email for more information always for the same thing so just gave up… every dealing with these amateurs is one frustration after another… the only reason I bother with them is I can transact internationally WORST BANK EVER
One of the worst banks I ever Dealt…
One of the worst banks I ever Dealt with In my entire life I filed Complaint about this damn bank 3 times with CFPB already
I HATE HSBC
I HATE HSBC. DO NOT open an account with this bank. It will be never ending pain and struggle. It is impossible to contact them when you have been locked out of your mobile banking app because they require details from inside your app in order to talk to them. I am now having to travel to the bank and waste my morning to talk to these incompetent people. Lord help HSBC customers, because customer service SURE WONT. Overall, my worst ever experience with a bank, save yourself the suffering and give this failing bag of dog poop a hard miss.
Spoke with a very helpful young lady…
Spoke with a very helpful young lady called Jasmine in Computer Sharesave today 15/01/2026 she was able to help with my questions straight away and explained everything professionally.
Thank you Jasmine

AVOID!
Shame I can't score a zero,as that's even more than they deserve. Moved across from another credit card provider, after a buyout and have had nothing but trouble with them. Setting up the mobile app, you needed a degree for and when it finally works, you can't do owt on it! Atrocious. Trying to do simple tasks like changing a monthly direct debit amount, nope. Can't make a payment to my credit card as I don't have a main banking account with them, so have to use a bank transfer only. Absolute waste of time. I thought we lived in the 21st century, maybe I was wrong, maybe these idiots still live in another century. When I can,I will be closing my account with them and never looking back. Avoid at ALL costs if you value your own sanity!!!!!!!!!

Haley Tang at HSBC was simply excellent…
Haley Tang at HSBC was simply excellent and very professional in dealing with my unexpected need to move funds around my account just before the Christmas holiday.
She stepped into the breach when my premier Relationship Director was unavailable
It’s service like this that HSBC should be justly proud of and in my view sets the bank Ona pedestal of good performance among its competitors.
Thank you Hayley for such superb and knowledgeable service.
Offered transfer balance period of 18…
Offered transfer balance period of 18 months when previously it had been 36 months. Closed account. Buyer beware, HSBC is NOT your friend.
The worst customer service ever along…
The worst customer service ever along with Vodafone. I have been banking with HSBC since I was 10 years old. I'm 35. They used to be great, had branches everywhere, now they're utterly useless. They outsource their customer service to somewhere overseas, which wouldn't be an issue if they were efficient but they're not. The full setup is horrific. I get so exhausted trying to get basic information. It's taken them three days to get me a bank statement and it's still not available online despite being told twice it would take up to 24 hours! Why???? Now I'm on chat trying to get one statement after three days.
They don't reward loyalty. I will be leaving in 2026. Enough is enough. Sort it out.
WARNING TO ALL
Im writing this and im absolutely broken, angry and I will stop at absolutely NOTHING to highlight HSBC now.
I had rent paid into my account today from a tenant, she paid early due to the bank holiday and she’s in the process of changing her bank. My other two tenants (shared HMO house) all pay on the 1st of every month. This is shown in my account they can clearly see this has been a regular payment for the last few years,
This is my only income since I lost my business after caring for my husband while having cancer, my children’s father who passed away from cancer in march. I have 3 young children. I then lost my Mum in Oct, apart from my children this is all the family I had. I lost everything in a year.
No sooner than the money went in I went to check and my account had been frozen, no phone call no warning nothing. I called and have been told my account is under review. I explained this is all the money I have and was told I couldn’t have it.
They’ve said I’m not entitled to take it out and I’m beside myself I have 3 children to support and no money. I have no cash nothing and I was sobbing on the phone. How can you do this to people???
I have since phoned an old friend who is a solicitor and she’s informed me legally they cannot keep wages by either employer or self employed so what they’re doing is illegal, she’s advised me of what I need to do.
I have a property which is currently almost completed (completed in a few weeks) on a sale for £270,000 which was going to get me out the mess I’m in due to spending 18 months caring for my very sick husband. Everything I have is tied up in bricks and water and after losing him I lost a huge income which helped support us, my bank has made no effort to contact me it’s disgusting and during the Christmas period too, what kind of thing is this to do to anyone let alone someone who has banked with them for so many years.
My own property is also on the market at 1.1million, when my properties sell they will not be paid into the HSBC account because after I’ve taken legal action, which I’m starting tomorrow I’m not taking this by any means, I’ll be having nothing to do with this account.
I’m going to start documenting every single thing about this process and putting on my social media channels which have a large following due to a life changing car accident I had and I’m now disabled because of it.
I’ve had many parts of my life covered by the media, national papers and tv in the last ten years, GOOGLE ME HSBC because I will have you spread all over every newspaper in the coming days.
I’m disabled I have young children who they’ve just not long lost their Dad and Nan and you do this to me?? How do you people sleep at night?
So after another call with HSBC I find out this is about a woman claiming I owe her a £44 refund, a simple phone call and I could have explained everything but instead they do this. I hope this gets to court because I think after looking into this and seeing how many lives HSBC have ruined it’s about time we stood up and took action against them, WHICH I AM.
So over £44 you’ve put my account in review??
I will go into the branch tomorrow and if this is not resolved by 9am I will go live on social media, I will warn every single customer in there what HSBC are doing. Go onto Facebook look up HSBC complaints and see the amount of people who’s accounts have been put under review, you’ve done it to the wrong person this time, I’ve been through enough, my children have been through enough, I will make such a public noise about this in branch tomorrow first thing and post it everywhere that the media will soon be involved.
I’m sending emails to the newspapers this evening telling them, you will not get away with this.
Good luck to you HSBC, you will need it.
