Sometimes writing music can feel like bashing your head against a wall.
A drawn out, frustrating process of edits, re-writes, re-recordings and scrapped ideas.
But the there are the other sessions

Those times where seemingly out of the void, inspiration sparks.
A melody while in the shower. A paragraph of lyrics while driving.
Waking up to a burning idea that you feel almost possessed to go and explore immediately

Anyone who enjoys creating music can attest, there's something indescribable about when you get into the flow-state and single mindedly focus on the composition.
When you completely disassociate from the world and cease to exist, free from all distractions or worries.
To simply enjoy playing with the sound and follow what interests you in the moment without regard for a final result or what anyone else may think

Occasionally these moments will result in a complete song that finds it's way onto a full release. And these are almost always my favourite works.
Othertimes you hit a dead end

But often, what results falls somewhere in the middle.
A curious orphan song that doesn't seem to fit anywhere, but still feels complete enough to keep stored away.
Over several years of writing music, my collection of these sessions has grown to the point where they could be gathered into a release all their own. So rather than leave them to gather dust on a hard drive somewhere, i figured i'd let them go out into the world to be found by anyone who may be interested

These songs are presented exactly as they were at the time of their recording.
Often with mistakes, unfinished sections and the ambient bleed of the surroundings in which they were created.
They're rough and unpolished, but they are honest snapshots of those moments where i was able to stop, disengage and just play for a while...
