THE RESULTS ARE IN for the Hotness Contest, and Al swept it by twice the votes of anyone else. I guess bara never truly went out of style.
I’M SO GLAD EVERYONE STILL CARES FOR THE CZARS. Well, two of the three. I always thought of Xav as the pretty-boy of the family, but no one even mentioned him. Even Glenn had 2 votes. Shows what I know.
(Grichwell has nothing to say because he’s secretly hoping some of you freaks are actual lizards. (He’s so lonely.))
Have you ever wanted to receive a 100+ page badly-scanned, uncropped, (mostly-)unedited peek into my sketchbooks from college? Have you ever wanted to receive it in exchange for $1?
I chose 6 sketchbooks at random and scanned whatever looked interesting. Monsters, characters, some fanart I don’t remember doing… legs… lots of body parts. Mostly SFW, except for a couple slightly spicy Czars. And! If this garners enough interest, I might do more of these. (There’s, um, enough content.)
[ I’LL BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ]

I love gouache. I could write you a whole list of things that are great about gouache. There are only two things that keep me from using it all the time, and that’s 1) the learning curve is steep as hell, and 2) it scans like caca.
But I’m really set on being good at it! Here’s a small baby Grich. Yet another example of me taking a visual gag further than it needs to be.

A hilariously huge lizard in human society requires hilariously huge accommodations, and Grich is no exception to that rule I just made up. His bunk when traveling is a giant terrarium. I might add plants for a homier feel.
After a long day of shouting orders and swiping things with their snow-shovel claws, doesn’t everyone just want to take off their pants, light a cigar as big as a person and sprawl out under an industrial-grade heat lamp?My entry for Artslam today is too big and shiny and I ain’t gonna bother posting a separate header for it.
Weeble spitfire Megan suggested I try some different lighting/colors, using Grich as a control. I think this is the furthest I’ve gotten from local color in my life.
Please throw any color advice you have in your brain at me.

I wish that was the worst, most inappropriate joke I’d ever made.

MORE GRICHWELL STUFF. Hairdos and baby lizards.
I guess I’ll just post these in batches, uhh… based on how well they fit into the photoset shapes.

Now how, exactly, does a giant lizard end up living among humans?
Finally got all the major players introduced in Artslam, so here are some of my favorites so far. So, five out of six.
I don’t have these characters worked out as well as the Czars, so don’t expect much– but you know where you can go for more information!
The other scenes from that project. Because Aslaug wants to see them.
I don’t like these, but (with exception to the last one, oogh) I’m not completely sure why, except that they were rush work. I’ve been pressuring myself to figure out what I want my work to function as when I graduate in a year and a half. That sentiment doesn’t seem to be helping how I see and approach my work right now.
THAT’S WHAT THIS BREAK IS FOR, though. Gonna illustrate the hell out of things. Slap me if I don’t.

Quick color job. Well, it’ll do.
Still my favorite one.

Raw linework from my favorite composition for my Tuesday class. Still needs some editing, but FAR less than if I’d used my usual inking technique.
I never thought I’d want to thank Al’s butt for anything, ever. But here we are. The importance of personal work, kids.
The last screenwriting reading session. I’m going to miss all this free paper something terrible.
Among these is a catwoman that started when I was trying to draw a damn scarf, and an adorable off-model scribble of the protagonist from Grichwell’s story, Pel. She’s a sweetie, I hope to have more to show of her soon.
Reaaaaally quick color/scene swatches before bed.
Grich is a big mother.
