The game engine may allow for manual configuration of the game via its variables. See the Unreal Engine 5 page for more details.

Field of view (FOV)

Use Universal Unreal Engine 5 Unlocker

Notes

Launch the game, then open UUU5 and inject DLL, then press ~ for open console and set the desired fov (example fov 100).
UUU5 need to be launched every game boot.
Custom FOV
  1. Make a backup of Enotria-Win64-Shipping.exe found in <path-to-game>\Enotria\Binaries\Win64, if needed.
  2. Open Enotria-Win64-Shipping.exe with a hex editor such as HxD.
  3. Replace five instances of 35 FA 0E 3C with one of the following:
    • 35 FA 0E 3C (default)
    • 35 FA 28 3C
    • 35 FA 32 3C
    • 35 FA 40 3C

Notes

Refer to this hex table to convert an appropriate number to a hex value.
Cutscenes, item views, and zooming in unaffected.
Only works with 16:9 and 21:9 aspect ratio.
Use Enotria FOV mod

High dynamic range display (HDR)

Force the built-in HDR display output of the engine:
  1. Create a text file Engine.ini in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Enotria\Saved\Config\Windows\
  2. Add following lines to the file:
[SystemSettings]
r.AllowHDR=1
r.HDR.EnableHDROutput=1
r.HDR.Display.OutputDevice=5
r.HDR.Display.ColorGamut=2

Recommended changes (optional):

  • If the display supports 2000 nits or higher, change r.HDR.Display.OutputDevice to 6 to use the 2000 nits output mode.
  • Add these lines to boost the make the UI blend in closely as how it did in SDR, and boost its brightness (this also allows HDR to work properly in DX12 in UE 5.0, otherwise the UI would draw with the wrong gamma) (note that on UE 5.0, the UI could be broken regardless of the settings in HDR):
r.HDR.UI.CompositeMode=1
r.HDR.UI.Level=1.5
  • The game should now launch with HDR display output enabled and working.

Notes

Set Engine.ini read only to avoid the game deleting it (and ignoring it) on launch.
bUseHDRDisplayOutput in GameUserSettings.ini don't work if set to "True". Switch HDR manually before launch the game.
Use Enotria HDR plus Tweaks mod

Enable virtual shadow maps

Greatly improve shadow quality at a low relative cost.
Virtual shadowmaps are UE 5.x specific technology that renders high resolution shadows to a virtual texture. By default the game opts to use older cascade shadow maps technology at a very low resolution, supplementing them with distance field shadows.
  1. Open %LOCALAPPDATA%\Enotria\Saved\Config\Windows\Engine.ini.
  2. Add following lines to the file:

[SystemSettings]
r.Shadow.Virtual.Enable=1

Save the file and launch the game.

By default VSM tiles are cached as the system tries to detect which tiles need to be updated. Detection algorithm can fail to pick up on small (relatively to tile surface) objects moving out of a given tile, causing smearing artifacts as previous tile is not invalidated properly.
This behavior can be fixed by disabling caching via r.Shadow.Virtual.Cache=0 command, which will incur extra performance cost.
If caching is left enabled, extra performance (at the cost of extra VRAM usage) can be gained by enabling drawing dynamic objects to separate pages via r.Shadow.Virtual.Cache.StaticSeparate=1

Toggle HUD

  • Usefull for more immersion and for OLED screen
Use Universal Unreal Engine 5 Unlocker

Notes

Launch the game, then open UUU5 and inject DLL, then find (or replace) the hotkey for toggle hud).
UUU5 need to be launched every game boot.
Use Enotria NO HUD
