On the new live EP, Live at The Crumb, Pedro the Lion shares four tracks recorded live at the same Seattle studio where the band’s recent album Santa Cruz was tracked. These recordings feature David Bazan (drums & vocals), Erik Walters (electric guitar & backing vocals), and Rebecca Cole (synth & keyboard bass). Three of the songs appear on Santa Cruz, while the last is a cover of Grandaddy’s “Taster.”
Santa Cruz is David Bazan’s new chapter in an ambitious and ongoing recording project - 5 albums devoted to places he lived in throughout his life. The album is Bazan’s third in the series and follows up where 2022’s Havasu and 2019’s Phoenix left off. The stories on Santa Cruz highlight Bazan’s teenage years and solidifies what he sees as an exposition in a traditional three-act structure.

What a fun, engaging album. A very dynamic mix of airy, dreamy indie pop and pounding, energetic indie rock. You’d think these two styles would clash, but they meld perfectly in these ten songs. With such a broad scope of pop and rock styles on display here, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy. Kirk Gauthier

I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to properly put into words how much this band means to me. I can’t pick a favorite from this album but I can tell you that Steve’s trumpet solo in this song invoked tears from me. It’s an honor to live in a time where we have the privilege to listen such amazing musicianship. monicat
Another cinematic, retro-futurist concept album from the Nashville prog titans; a high-decibel rock opera of the highest possible caliber. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 15, 2026
Jo Hirabayashi's first record in 8 years is an existential exploration that sounds like if Elliott Smith had jammed with Brian Eno. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 10, 2026

This album brings me joy when I struggle to create joy on my own. "Screw it, we're doing it anyway" is a theme throughout. Excellent vocals with real heart in the instruments.
Fills me with longing for what I no longer have. Chris Buckminster
