i think we should have a custom blog theme renaissance
helloo feels like i’ve been gone a million years but life update i’m moving to a new city and going back to school next month! equal parts scared and excited but after i’m settled i’ll be more active here and get back to making themes! i also plan to reopen my commissions to hopefully help pay for rent & school costs!! in the mean time this is my support me page if anyone’s able, and as always all my previous themes are available here
i’ll make an official commissions post when they reopen so be on the lookout for that! thank you so much to everyone who’s used my themes :)
and i don't just mean making more of them, i also mean appreciation of them and making them a central part of tumblr's site culture again. no other popular social media site (although tumblr technically is a microblogging site) really offers this level of aesthetic and functional customization anymore. it's maybe a header, a bio, and an icon.
i remember when putting a lot of effort into themes, mutual theme "ratings", complimenting users on their pages, proudly announcing theme changes/customizations, and appreciating theme makers for their work was a norm on this site. it's how many young people got into html.
i know many people are primarily mobile users but when on desktop... who cares if tumblr makes it a little difficult to get directly to someone's blog page these days. i think themes are a really excellent part of tumblr and i don't want them quietly guttering out.
Being-A-Creative-On-Tumblr-Culture is going through all of the 24 reblogs on your post with 357 notes just to get just enough serotonin to get through your day by reading what the five god sent people who left tags wrote

tumblr is not instagram. likes on tumblr, while appreciated, are effectively useless in helping a creator reach a wider audience.
- when you like something, it goes into your own personal folder. and chances are good that, even if it’s public, no one will see it.
- likes do not get shared to the dashboard, where others can actually see and have the opportunity to engage.
- liking a creation only really benefits you, and not the creator or the rest of the tumblr community!
likes are great for bookmarking, saving posts with the intent of a later reblog, engaging with certain posts that don’t need to be shared (ie. personal posts), posts that you are not comfortable sharing, and prepping a queue.
- REBLOGGING is the best way to support a content creator!
- reblogs boost attention and engagement. it actually allows for that content to be shared with others. which, really, is what tumblr is all about!
tldr; reblogs > likes. please don’t take content creators for granted. this site would be nothing without them!
