    Are you worried about U.S. travel?

    For many Canadians, travel to the United States is a yearly routine. But that’s started to change. People around the world have shared stories about travel to the U.S. gone wrong. Some have been pulled into the back rooms of airports for additional screening, others have been pressured to share their social media accounts for examination and in the worst case scenarios, detained. Now, out of fear or even national pride, many travelers are rethinking their travel plans. In March, nearly 900,000 fewer Canadians visited the U.S. So, what might you encounter if you choose to head down south? Is there reason to be concerned? Today, Hannah Sampson, a travel reporter with the Washington Post, joins the show to break down the reality of traveling to the U.S. under Trump.     Tragedy at the Lapu-Lapu day festival in Vancouver: What we know and the questions being raised

    Warning: this episode may be triggering for some listeners. Friday has been declared a day of mourning in British Columbia for the victims of the Lapu-Lapu Day festival attack. What was meant to be a celebration quickly turned to tragedy on Saturday, as nearly a dozen people were killed and dozens more injured when a suspect drove their vehicle into a crowd at a Filipino festival in Vancouver. The man charged in the alleged attack was overseen by a mental health team and was on extended leave at the time of the incident – which is now raising questions about mental health reform. Meantime, we are learning more about some of the victims and how members of the community are supporting one another.     Our “recovering partisans” dissect the 2025 election results and what comes next

    The federal election results are in. The Liberals have won a fourth term with Mark Carney at the helm, besting Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives but falling just shy of a majority government.  While the Tories have much to celebrate, Poilievre’s seat loss in Carleton is a major wrinkle that will impact his party for the next few months and possibly years.  The NDP also saw its leader Jagmeet Singh lose his seat. Singh said he would resign on election night after leading the party to the worst electoral result in its history.   This week, our panel of recovering partisans weighs in on both of those storylines, as well as the challenge Carney faces and how long this 169-seat minority government can survive.  In this episode: Karen Vecchio, the outgoing Conservative MP for Elgin—Middlesex—London; David Christopherson, the former NDP MP for Hamilton Centre; and Rodger Cuzner, the former Liberal MP for Cape Breton—Canso, and now an independent Senator.   • At 25, Hannah’s life begins falling apart. An anonymous intruder has made her phone her enemy. Aided by the technology we all rely on, this intruder is watching Hannah, threatening her, even pretending to be her. Feeling increasingly unsafe, Hannah goes to the police, but they can’t stop it.
