He ...See moreJohn tells Althea that he should have believed her when she insisted that she and Nick weren't involved, and he regrets falsely accusing her. Matt suggests that Nick consider Althea's advice that he marry Cathy and divorce her later. He points out that by the time that he's free from Cathy, John will probably be fully recovered. Nick violently objects, pointing out that he won't be railroaded into marriage just to give a child a name or appease the Hope Memorial board. While out on another mobile unit duty, Mike and Hank find a little girl they recognize as Mary Nell Jarrett, the little girl brought in to Hope Memorial last winter for a fall down the stairs, which Mike suspected was child abuse. Noting fresh bruises on her face, Mike pushes his way into the Jarrett apartment to confront Lorraine Jarrett. She denies any abuse toward the child, and when Mike won't give up his questioning, she threatens to phone the police. While Althea is out shopping, John practices moving his legs. When she and Nick come back to the apartment, Althea notes that John's leg is in a different position, and she's thrilled with his progress. However, John demonstrates the change in position by simply picking his leg up and moving it. A suspicious Nick doesn't buy the explanation. He decides that John has secretly recovered.
