Chapter 223: The Class Rep’s Costume

I’m still loving Rin’s new outfit. She really is channeling Hoshina Utau, especially with the blonde pigtails. She turns into a cockroach when teaming up with Kouki. I’m thinking whenever she teams up with someone, her outfit changes, and the other person gets a costume too. The possibilities are endless, I want to see more 😍

We also have some names and abilities for these bad guys! Lantern butt is Jack Wisp, we already know his power, and the name seems self-explanatory. Bicep monk is named Vakappa, and looks like he can control water. Maybe his name comes from the Japanese water monster “kappa”, but I’m not too sure, and what’s with the “Va”?

I feel bad for Kouki, she is pretty new to using abilities and making friends. Of course she doesn’t want Rin to die, especially if she’s not confident that she can save her on her own. Maybe there would be a deus ex machina showing up to save the day? Maybe Saint-Germain himself will come since he has decided to team up with the students 👀

Chapter 222: Who Are You People?

Wow, this chapter was EVERYTHING!!! But first, these enemies. They look like a bunch of weirdos lmao. The leader is definitely the Red Baron, who we saw at Shimane. Next is the guy with huge biceps??? And he’s got the medieval monk hairstyle going on. We did not see him in action at all, so I’m curious to see what his ability might be.

Last is jack'o lantern butt. The choice to make him toot explosive gas out of the jack'o lanterns mouth was… interesting. The snap he does to ignite it is neat, I must say. He must be wearing things that can make sparks on his fingers. The juxtaposition of him dressed as a dapper gentleman while reading a gravure mag and farting to activate his ability is quite funny.

And lastly, the girls!!! I knew Rin was gonna get a better outfit some day. Rin and Kouki’s abilities work so well together since they both incorporate music, the ship is solidifying I fear.

Their outfits are really cute, too. Kouki is a fly with wings and compound eyes, while Rin is a cockroach, but still adorable. Tatsu really said “insects, but make it fashion.” The silhouette on Rin’s outfit also reminded me of Utau from Shugo Chara, when she transforms with her demon chara, but instead of a little demon, Rin is a roach 😭 Still better than the turtle bikini.

Chapter 211: Who the Heck?

Hmm, I guess the lore drop was interesting, but it still doesn’t compensate for what happened to Momo 😤

A lot of information was revealed in this chapter though. First of all, Saint Germain’s plan to make the ultimate yokai? What for? He worked with the Serpo, but that backfired, so he’s just turning 180 to make friends with our crew? No way anybody is going to trust you. Then again, nobody remembers Saint Germain, only Sanjome-sensei. I’m still super sketched out by this guy.

Also, there’s a Sorcerers Association? Has this been mentioned before??? I wonder if Seiko is part of the association. And looks like the smokey guy is part of the “Black Paladins”, who use yokai powers to destroy rival companies. Maybe that’s why Saint Germain is working with him, since he has experience with this kind of thing.

Also, this moment was very cute. I used to make paper cranes with napkins at restaurants lol. How long has this bakery been here that they have regular customers? Saint Germain has been busy.

Chapter 206: Jiji and the Evil Eye

Very interesting technique being used by Jiji and Evil Eye. They didn’t fuse, they’re just switching back and forth really fast. I’ve never seen Naruto, but isn’t this how the clone thing works lol.

Every time they reveal a new technique, I’m more and more impressed with Jiji and Evil Eye’s physical and spiritual prowess. They are practically made for each other, it just took some time for Evil Eye to open up. It’s sweet how much Evil Eye respects Seiko 🥹

I was wondering what to call this new form that Jiji and Evil Eye have achieved, and @bakedbananners came up with these fantastic suggestions! Evil Eye’s Japanese name is Jashi, and using that with Jiji made the name flow really nicely. Personally, Jashiji rolls off the tongue easier, so I’m more inclined to use it.

So now we have Yokarun, Acro Aira, and Jashiji!!!

Chapter 204: Enenra, The Smoke Yokai

Evil Eye’s initial reaction to seeing Seiko defeated is so him 😭 Of course he would find it funny, the Red Baron is a small fry after all. It was also sweet of him to get Seiko away from the danger first, he even covered her with his sweater 🥹 He’s a sweet boy.

Something else I found amusing was that Red Baron’s attacks are named after cigarette brands lol.

Jiji is seriously OP as a character, plus he seems to be able to converse with Evil Eye and get him to listen! That’s great progress. Though I still want Evil Eye to meet Brella Boy 👀

Evil Eye can handle physical attacks, while Jiji handles spiritual/non-physical attacks, they’re the best of both worlds! It can’t be said enough, but Jiji, you really are a genius.

Chapter 203: The Mysterious Man

I was mistaken last chapter, I thought the guy was Count Saint-Germain, but he’s not. They’re definitely working together since he kept asking Seiko to accept defeat. Saint-Germain probably gave him a kozuka knife that gives him the ability of enenra. I’ve never heard of enenra before, but being able to turn into smoke is really cool.

Seiko held up pretty well, but she’s not on her home turf, so she can’t use her spiritual powers 😭 It broke my heart seeing my goat so hurt. Good thing Evil Eye is here to wreak havoc. Beat up those guys Evil Eye! Save everyone!!!
