THE STORY OF AZURE STANDARD really begins in 1971 when my family made radical changes in the operation of our 2,000-acre dry-land wheat and cattle ranch. In the 1950’s almost all the farmers in America began using chemical fertilizers because the lure of higher yields was just too great to pass up. Not long afterward, the soil deteriorated to the point where the weeds and insects began to attack the crops, so pesticides and herbicides soon followed. Our family was caught in the cycle like most farmers, until 1971 when we took our farm out of the chemical cycle “cold turkey,” so to speak. In the first year, the chemical-dependent land only produced a small percentage of what it had formerly produced. At this point most farmers would have gone back to chemical use for economic survival. But, sticking to our convictions, we fought ignorance and lack of information in order to keep on without chemical use. As the years went on, the soil slowly regained its natural fertility. As a result of farming in this manner, both commercially, and on smaller scale in large gardens and orchards for our own use, our family became healthier. We began selling this healthier food to others who also wanted to reap the benefits of better nutrition. Our newfound customers soon began asking for different natural and organic products which we didn’t grow here on our farm, but we scrambled to find those products for them. Thus, in 1987, Azure Standard was born. Here, we understand that naturally grown foods are instrumental in producing a long and satisfying life. We’d like to see more farmers and home gardeners turn to natural organic growing practices, so we do what we can to not only support the organic farmer, but also provide as many organic products as possible. We chose to call our business Azure Standard, to signify by the name what we are attempting to do. Azure is a shade of blue which has been associated with law, justice, and honesty. In raising an azure standard, we want to place an honest standard in the marketing of food. We feel that the correct way to effect a positive change is not to attack the way it is being done, but to begin to do it right. We are dedicated to the “organic principle” of cooperating with nature and we pray others will join us so that we may once again see prosperity in our land. David Stelzer Azure Founder and CEO

This was my first drop

This was my first drop. Delayed due to ice storms in Tn. Driver was early and everybody pitched in to sort and get him unloaded as quickly as possible. Fantastic experience!

Ordering is easy and well laid out

Ordering is easy and well laid out. I appreciate the opportunity to report items that may need a credit applied.
I wish there were more details about the product, one being any coatings on produce, especially apples. Also would like to know if Azure sells from vendors who use "aPeel" on their produce.

I’ll buy here again.

The company and driver did an excellent job. I ordered quite a few things and they all turned out great except the cucumbers that were already beginning to go bad, but that can’t always be controlled.
Our drop coordinator was unfriendly to children…not sure why, maybe she doesn’t like kids.

winter indoor warehouse please

I like everything About the Azure experience except helping unload the trucks in the (sometimes) brutal Ohio winters. I feel so bad for the moms with little kids out in the snow and wind. Is there an indoor warehouse we can use?

The delivery was fine as usual

The delivery was fine as usual. The drivers are very helpful and attentive. Our customers are complaining about the Customer Care people. Very poor. Hard to understand them and they do not understand us. You need to fix this ASAP. We used to be very happy with the Phone Operators with the exception of the wait time but at least we understood each other.

Great products, very diverse

The catalog is a little overwhelming, I didn’t even know there were that many Organic products out there! The service and ease of ordering and pickup was amazing, definitely recommend!

In appreciation for all that you do.

I'm always grateful and appreciative of all the products I am able to buy from Azure. Otherwise we could not eat much organic and grass fed products as we can't find many good choices here in our store. Thank you Azure for all that you do for us all!

This order was pretty good

This order was pretty good. Ordered white vinegar 5 gallons. Wasn’t available I guess.
Ice storm made it impossible to get my order. But my coordinator was a rockstar and found a way to send my order with another couple ( customers) and was able to pick it up later in the week.

I find it’s a great product and a reasonable price. It’s delivered nearby and I’ve always been pleased with the way. The delivery service has worked out.
