has anyone recommendations for UTDR/UTMV and Wings of Fire related merch (available outside of US) ? i don’t care if it’s fanmade or official btw, as long as the money goes to actual artists.
it’s my bday soon and i’d like to ask for some fandom related stuff !!
(i’m open for other fandoms merch recommendations like Warrior Cats, Bee and Puppycat, Neon Genesis Evangelion, TADC (tho their merch seems good and is easy to find) too, just more focused on the two main mentioned)

once upon a time i had an idea of Wings of Fire fantribe, infected by a friend’s (@unknowntalesbymiles) enthusiasm about ants, so AntWings, who would be a Pantalian tribe and live under the mountains in what would be basically a giant anthill.
HOWEVER.
when i searched it on [Tumblr] someone already had the idea before me. plus their designs are fire. imma bit sad to not be original enough, but happy to see someone exploring better than me the potential of that idea. so uh, if you’re interested, the account is @the-ancient-dragons. (it has been some time since i’ve read the post about AntWings, gotta re-read it).
I'm just gonna drop some headcanon stuff for the tribes designs in here
I like to think that almost all tribes have earholes instead of protruding ears to make that bird/reptile aesthetic, but maybe except for NightWings, IceWings, and pantalan tribes. I know that the ears make them expressive, but for that I just make some other features like that, like feathers or spines.
SeaWings don't have the proper wings for flight, they instead have penguin-like flippers that allows them to "fly" underwater. MudWings rarely ever fly, due to how heavy they are, but they can!
All tribes have a nictitating membrane, or a transparent second eyelid, that helps them clear off debris from their eyes during flight. For SeaWings, since they can't fly, the transparent eyelid is used to see underwater (And since they live in saltwater they don't want to get that saltwater in their eyes).
I know I said this before on my blog, but LeafWings are now more buglike! To fit with the insect aesthetic the Pantala tribes have going on. They have two pairs of wings that look like a mix between cicada wings and leaves and a pair of mantis-like claws. They also have antler-like horns.
All the other pantalan tribes now have antennae, four eyes, and a third pair of limbs. SilkWings have small arms in the front that helps them with their silk-spinning abilities, HiveWings just have six legs, and just like I said, LeafWings have mantis-like claws.
i really like the idea of mantis features on LeafWings, since some mantises display natural mimicry of plants, such as leaves or the orchid mantis. idk, exploring further the potential of this idea could lead to neat fanon designs.
Imagine if the different tribes had their own native languages. Rainwings not speaking the common language ... Icewings having "modernized" and slightly strayed from more insanely traditional things once they started interacting with other tribes (would explain why there's Icelandic named ones and also English), Nightwings having two varying traditions to either name your kid your expectation of them or to wait a month and let the name naturally find them based on their talents, etc etc .....
ooooh that’s very interesting !! we could even push the idea further with regional languages within a tribe : for exemple, lower circles Icewings may have a different vocabulary than higher circles Icewings (and are probably looked down for that because Icewing nobility values purity and it also applies to language) with a slang or even a complex dialect which is specific to them, that has been developed partly because of the distance between the castle and the most remote villages, and the difference of their reality (higher circles Icewings’ lives are mainly about power and manage the kingdom while lower circles Icewings’ lives is probably more about living, fishing and hunting, managing their town, like more “ordinary” occupations - which sounds way more interesting life to have tbh but that’s my personal opinion).
Such differences of languages could also lead to a more fragile unity of the clan because communication could be partially compromised because of it. Perhaps higher circles would impose lower circles their dialect to standardize the language, which in terms of communication may seem like a good idea but which also leads to cultural erasure. (i was inspired by what happened in France - my country - with a sort of major educational reform in the 19th century which required all students to speak Touraine French and prohibited them to use their regional language in the school setting, which standardized the language but also made dialects disappear (not completely, dialects still exist, but are not used on a daily basis)).
yuuuup sorry f i yapped too much or said blatantly wrong things-
i mean it could have so much potential, because y'know how Pyrrhia considers Rainwings - pacifists, vegans, chill and all and it’s kinda true to certain extent, so it would be so easy for one to use these stereotypes to hide their evil business. That also would be so cool if they were an extremely good manipulator.
the protag (if it’s the “good guy” and not the villain) would try to denounce them but no one would believe them because “A Rainwing, evil ? Yeah yeah that must be it, go away and stop wasting my time” or “But I know them and I know they wouldn’t do something like that. Especially a Rainwing.”
And at some point the Rainwing and their accuser would get into a fight and then BOOM! melted face because magical death spit, and the protag would try to use it as proof but then the Rainwing turns this against them by saying that they were attacked for no reason and is the victim in the story, and that the protag is dangerous. Ostracized protag, no one believes them anymore and they even loses friends.
and then friendship is magic or idk like literal magic intervention could work or maybe just smth more realistic but the protag finally manages to prove they were right all along, but must bear the scar of their struggles to achieve this.
anyway could be an idea for a fanfiction take if you want idc, and if anyone do write a fanfic on this concept i would love to be tagged to read it !!! (^-^)
