i can never stop myself from swearing “jesus christ” in character when playing ttrpgs so my workaround for this has been that in every setting i run there is a different historical catastrophe that’s always caused by a different guy but in each case, coincidentally, his name was jesus christ, so there’s always a diegetic reason why people use that exclamation like a curse.
in my old spelljammer campaign jesus christ was a gnome who fucked up during the construction of a space elevator between two orbit-locked planets, causing them to collide and costing the space bridge company 51 quintillion gold in resurrection costs and restitutive damages, which i think merits people 90 years later still using your name like it means “fuck me, this sure is a pickle”
sometimes in a new game or even a one-shot, a canny player who’s been at my table before will pre-emptively ask me “so who’s jesus christ?”
