Has it ever occurred to anyone else that Vox seems genuinely happy when he’s alone with Valentino but becomes embarrassed whenever someone points it out or someone else sees them being sweet to each other?
Blah blah blah, “relying on others is weak” blah blah blah “1900s internalized homophobia [biphobia]” blah blah blah “too prideful to admit he needs help” blah blah blah “Val is an emotional weakness and those weaknesses can be exploited by his enemies” blah blah blah
stress eating
sometimes I forget that valentino is a moth😭
I’ll never recover from beheaded Vox (or this Caleb Hearon audio)
Guys help I can’t tell me where the show ends and the memes begin
“You think your little mockery is gonna make me cry? That I’m bawling ‘bout the past that could’ve been?”
So my two cents about that
Since season 3 is going to be the “most romantic,” I think it will be an opportunity to explore Alastor’s Villain Arc and asexuality, not by giving him a romantic partner, but by contrasting him with the other couples.
Husketdust: both are bound by a contract, and neither feels they deserve redemption, yet they are each other’s safe haven, two losers eating shit at rock bottom, and they know they have eachothers back. This contrasts with how Alastor, also under a contract, refuses to have anyone around since such vulnerability could kill him, and how he sees such a thing as a weakness.
Chaggie: proves how their love can overcome these battles and how they have each other, and how this only strengthens them and never the opposite. Complete opposite of how Alastor thinks. That scene from the last episode of season 1 where he feels almost disgusted at being seen as an “altruist who sacrificed himself to save his friends,” this time distancing himself even further from the others despite secretly needing such affection.
Lucilith: Even after all these years, Lucifer loves Lilith, misses her every day, and still loves her with all his being. I don’t think Alastor necessarily cares about their relationship, but it’s a contrast about how he has no one waiting for him (except maybe his mother whos in Heaven, who knows??), no one who misses him or even cares about the two times he almost died.
Then we have Vox, witch is a whole other rabbit hole. Not necessarily romantic, BUT it’s important to mention because Viv confirmed that Vox will continue to be an important character throughout the seasons, so it’s fair to think that the relationship between them will have some focus because there is a lot of unresolved tension between the two that needs resolution, whether it ends well (radiostatic/staticlovetune) for both of them or not (radiosilence???).
It will be interesting to see this aspect explored further with the only asexual character in the series who is also truly becoming a “villain”.
As an aroace, I can’t wait to see how it goes.
And please, Viv, don’t use this just to confirm ships and end up with a unfuffiling arc.
He wants that cookie BAD
Holy fucking shit balls husk. Contain yourself
not to break ur heart further but angel registering that cherri was there and trying to put his arms out to protect her from husk bc he couldn’t recognize him??? KILL ME NOW
One thing about Vox’s character that I find very interesting (and a little funny) is that Alastor, ironically, played a role in shaping both his positive and his negative qualities.
In the banger known as Brighter, we can see that he was absolutely hellbent (no pun intended) on eliminating ANYONE who was above him, on the same level as him, or even might rise to the same level as him. I mean, he kicked a grieving reporter live on camera just because he didn’t want to share the same desk as her. What I’m getting at is that Vincent would NEVER have wanted any kind of partnerships, agreements, or ANYTHING that would have him “sharing the spotlight”
And then comes along the radio deer man. And before he knows it, he has a crush on him. It really is interesting because you’d think he’d try do to Alastor what he did to the people in the TV network, BUT HE DOESN’T!!!!! Throughout his mortal life, he’s never had any regard for anyone but himself; always cold, cunning, and calculating. So when he starts experiencing feelings of attraction and attachment, it changes him! And we can see how his relationship with Alastor changed how he goes about relationships with others, most notably with the Vees!!!
Whereas Vincent would’ve LOATHED the idea of sharing a spotlight with Velvette and Valentino, Vox is totally chill with it. Heck, HE even developed feelings for another person because, funnily enough, his experiences with Alastor taught him the value of having a partner (business or romantic). Heck, the only reason he ran his partnership into the ground was because he let his obsession with avenging his unrequited love for Alastor get the better of him!
So yeah, Vox’s doomed yaoi with Alastor ended up shaping him for the better and the worse, lol.
This parallel but is Angel at his highest and Husk at his lowest
…
that’s it, that’s the post

a short comic :-)
i think to get into (superhero) comic books you kinda do have to get over yourself and be fine with not always knowing the full context. stop being afraid of not knowing who all the characters are or what happened beforehand and just jump into reading whatever you want and learn everything along the way. stop being intimidated by there being a lot of comic book, that’s a good thing
