Have you ever tried living for two full years in a makeshift tent that protects you from neither the scorching heat of summer nor the freezing cold of winter?

Have you lived without clean water, without proper food, in a place that isn’t suitable for human beings?

We are living in tragic conditions. We barely eat enough to keep hunger away, and whatever food we find is nothing close to what a human body needs.

Have you ever been in severe pain that feels like your body is tearing apart simply because there is no medicine? And when medicine does appear, it is either a rare miracle or sold at a price we can never afford.

Our life has become something that words cannot fully describe.

We are suffering every moment, in every part of daily life. And asking for help is not easy for me, but our reality is far harsher than anything we can face alone.

Okay, I am going insane! People are telling me that Palestinians should stop raising funds for themselves. They should rely on charities and/or grassroots organizations. But the settler colony places a blockade on Ghazzah! Aid has been limited! Now, 37 of them are banned!

At the same time, the ceasefire has been violated once again! Al Jazeera reports the following: "At least 425 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since an October ceasefire came into effect, the Health Ministry says". Then we have the freezing cold. The winter has been unforgivable. An infant has passed away because of it! How much longer can this go on?

This locker contains items that matter deeply to us—things we can’t easily replace. We’ve tried everything we can, but we’ve run out of time and options. We’re asking for help to raise the funds needed to keep our storage unit and prevent losing everything.

sometimes I talk about disliking copyright/IP on here, and I always try to stress that the reason these conversations matter is because copyright law is used in real life to hurt real people. I want to highlight a current example of this happening which I haven't seen talked about on my dash yet.

Solar Being is a small business run by two natural hair sculpting artists. their art has gone viral online a few times, and one of their most recognizable creations are their shaped hair puffs:

recently, their business has been under attack by frivolous DMCA & copyright infringement complaints by a competing company. Solar Being has had to close pre-orders for their hair extensions and redirect the funding they raised through a kickstarter campaign into now building a legal defense fund, at the expense of their allocated labor and production budget. in the meantime, they can't even post uncensored photos of their star puffs to social media without facing copyright claims. this issue goes beyond just promotional materials and is also affecting any posts where they (or their customers!) have their hair puffs visible.

on Solar Being's legal defense page they say they "believe [geometric hairstyle] designs should remain free for others to use, reinterpret, and express through their creative and commercial endeavors". and if these copyright infringement complaints are held up, it will likely affect the rights of other natural hair sculpting artists to create designs like this.

if you'd like to support Solar Being's legal fund they're accepting donations now, and I'd recommend supporting them through social media as well. I'm not personally associated with Solar Being and am just repeating what they've already said through their website and social media.

lots of people around copyright/IP discussions like to talk about supporting artists, and if you want direct that supportive energy somewhere productive I feel this situation is one that deserves your attention.
