Nickie Harte Kelly
Lovely Norwegian single, released just in time to herald not only the promise of longer days to come, but the advent of a new release, due early next year. Done in a traditional style, it depicts an endless dance between the masculine and feminine, balance and letting go. Bring on the full release!

about
The song Svarvi was born in the darkness of the long Norwegian winter, and its lyrics came to be through movement and dance. It tells the story of a never ending, always evolving dance between the feminine and masculine, and the life force that binds them together. It’s a story about bravery, dependence and mutual trust, but first and foremost, it's a song about letting yourself go.
lyrics
Han dansa med ormen
Han tala te ho
La selve gå - følg i flyt, og fenge
Ho tala te han - vis meg at eg kan
Ho tala te han - visa at ei kan
Ta tak, svarvi, svarvi om selv
Ta tak, svarvi, straula, kraft og hov x2
Han løfta med ormen
Han heve ho så høyg
La selve gange - lysa, lyst, lyse
Ho tala te han, vis meg at eg kan
Vis meg fram, visa meg med bram
Ta tak, svarvi, svarvi om selv
Ta tak, svarvi, straula, kraft og hov x2
Han hekte i månen halv
Og heng så vel og leng
visa vidje - stram og stor og seig
La sjelvi gange - fylja meg i flyt
La sjelve gå, fylja, flyt og fenge
Ta tak, svarvi, svarvi om sjelv
Ta tak, svarvi, straula kraft og hov x2
Han gi ho så månen halv
Og kvila over ho
He danced with the serpent
He spoke to her
Let the self go – follow, flow, and captivate
She spoke to him – show me that I can
She spoke to him – show that one can
Take hold, spinn, turn around your self
Take hold, spinn, radiate strength and holyness
He lifted with the serpent
He raised her so high
Let the self move – shine, bright, shimmering
She spoke to him, show me that I can
Show me forth, show me with boldness
Take hold, spinn, turn around your self
Take hold, spinn, radiate strength and holyness
He hooked onto the half-moon
And hangs so well and long
Shows his strength – tight and big and tough
Let the self move – follow me in flow
Let the self go, follow, flow and captivate
Take hold, spinn, turn around your self
Take hold, spinn, radiate strength and holyness
He gives her then the half-moon
And rests upon her
She carries him, the vigor in her grows
She flows and captivates him, enchanting in her form
He follows her, follows with force and flair
Take hold, spinn, turn around your self
Take hold, spinn, radiate strength and holyness
She shall hold, he shall take – aaaa
He shall hold, she shall take – aaaa
She shall hold, he shall take – aaaa
He shall hold, she shall take – aaaa
Take hold, spinn, turn around your self
Take hold, spinn, radiate strength and holyness

Songleikr is a project rooted in a deep love for Nordic folk music. Weaving together traditional stories with new musical creations, the group celebrates live music, people and connection.
This is great folk music that sounds like it could be a soundtrack to a film.
The percussion has been produced to give it a harder edge which raises the tension nicely.
Katt has a beautiful voice and sings in various languages. I already have so much music sung in English. I love hearing Scandanavian vocals.
Perfect on a Winters day and Pagan as you like! Crinklechips
