Astarion
The Pot and Kettle Tavern bustled with a cacophony of thundering heartbeats, raucous laughter, and swirling dancers as the bards' faces grew red from the effort of supplying the busy inn with entertainment all night. From their vantage point at the table tucked deep in the back, Astarion and Miss Fortune watched the ladies of the "good and the great" houses of Baldur's Gate become increasingly more inebriated on bottomless pours of Baldur's Grape. The deeper into their overpriced crystal chalices they got, the harsher their tones grew as they lashed orders at the staff as if they owned the place.
This tastefully decorated patriar's respite, with its purple velvet drapery and warm lighting, hovered on the cusp between the Lower and Upper Cities, a place for society's elite to giggle in delight at the thought of "slumming it" without sacrificing any of the glamor, comforts, or safety they were used to. In short, this was not one of Astarion's old haunts back in the day. But he was hunting for something completely different now, and from the looks of it he'd have his pick among this pack of nattering nuisances.
"Play 'Three Birds' again!" one of the women yelled above the din of the crowd, teetering and waving her chalice high in the air. Lady Linnacker, if Astarion's intel was correct; matriarch endowed with generations-old money from gem mines in Tethyr. She appeared to be the leader of this pack of hyenas, her bite just as pernicious as her bark. But while looking down on service staff wasn't illegal, he declared her outfit a crime against humanity.
