CO power imbalance annoys too much to continue playing.

First for clarification, I am a single player guy.

I only speak from single player experience.

And holy damn, not even 2 hours in I can already say that this game is an unbalanced mess beyond belief.

Just take a look at special powers.

You have one power that turns of vehicles and building for a turn in a small area, INCLUDING YOUR OWN.

And then you have another power that does damage in a large area and persists for 3 turns, this damages everything including buildings and every single new unit such a building produces.

Can you see the issue?

Special Units like the Rhino are also just silly with their ability to insta kill anything.

The writing is also well... bad.

Yes, it is written like the old Advance wars game but they were written very badly as well. People just look back on it fondly because of how bad it was.

Unit design looks pretty neat but it is held back by every faction's units looking the exact same baring a color swap and factions unique units.



Edit: I received a quick as well as very friendly developer response, which is a huge plus. It is quite rare for developers to pay that much care to the review section on steam. Very reasonable answer as well for the balance (though I still feel like the UI could make the charge differences clearer). The point about Unit design is quite on point as well, as I have honestly no clue how much works goes into the design of a Unit. Though I did of course assume that it was down to lacking resources.

This is a fun little game. I played through the campaign and it definitely scratched the Advance Wars itch as intended! It's far from perfect and missing polish here and there, such as being able to see unit information on the fly or things like enemy funds/power bars, but it's a small indie game and it's not really necessary to hold it to the same standard as some polished big studio release. I thought it was fun and I enjoyed my time going through the campaign. It seems like the developer put a lot of work into fixing bugs out of the gate and revisiting balance, difficulty curves, and all that since launch. The game seems to have landed in a pretty good spot so nice work! Thanks for creating a nice throwback to one of the games I grew up playing!
