A Network for Designers, Developers, and Players

The UT Dallas Student Game Developer Alliance (SGDA) is a Student-run organization that provides a network for communication between students and industry members, and aims to provide education and events based in the video game industry. Orientation faires, LAN parties, group movies, industry panels and more, the SGDA is the group to join if you're interested in games -- especially if you want to make them.

@fedoraman It's not hard to set up a dedicated server. The Source server that can be downloaded through steam lets you set up a local server, and with a little bit of configuring, you can open ports to allow it to be accessed from the internet. At that point, the speed of the host computer's internet connection and its processing power are the only factors that actively contribute to enjoyable game sessions.
