A Group for the best of Australian Civ - Players

OCP was founded as a public group - this was the right idea at the time, because Players were scarce and You had to collect every single Player and trust that he was a good and reliable Player.

That is how OCP grew and collected more Players than I ever thought did exist in Oceania.

I co-founded OCP many years ago with Hazdi - but shortly after foundation Hazdi gave up on Civ - V and OCP had a mostly afk and non-playing owner.

In my mind a group is not more than an extended friends-list.

A non-public group has the additional advantage to gather better and more reliable players.

Given how limited the number of Players are in Oceania, I was against founding a second group next to OCP, albeit SST and I have been contemplating it for 2 years now.

But it is worth a shot to establish a non-public quasi NQ-Group for Oceania.

Such a Group only exists because our Ping gets us excluded from many NQ-Games; if it were not for our ping we could all play in NQ and this group would be superfluous.

As for the Rules - Just look up NQ-Group Page;

I will invite into this group the Players I found to be the best to play with.

I also encourage every member to invite every player they like to play with.

I am not sure how active the group chat will become - so do initially treat this group as a list of very good and reliable players in the region.

Try to use announcements to schedule a game well in advance, e.g. : "Play this Saturday" announced on Monday.

I remember the epic games with Panang - when I was still Noob.

The real classic matches in OCP with Akbal, Duga, Albert, Laiger, Nefelious and many more.

Real spectacular and epic matches are very hard to come by nowadays.

I am ,unlike earlier, not prepared to invest a lot of time into Civ, but I hope to play epic matches stil.

I am prepared to wait and schedule such matches in advance.

I am really looking forward to a next match - whenever it will be.

All member can extend invites to this group - so do go ahead and use the power to invite the best to join us.

I have given the other admins in this group the full plenitude of powers of an owner - just in case admins go afk forever the group can function.

As you all know I haven't been very active on Civ lately (due to RL situations) but would love to play again in this community. Unfortunately Civ V takes a big chunk out of an afternoon/night and at this moment it simply doesn't work for me. The next time I'll be around will probably be at the end of this year so I will look forward to regularly competing but for now, I must say my goodbyes (for a year).

Just thought I'd post this since I haven't been very active but still willing to play when the time is right

Whether to play with ot without mod is up to the group of players that wants to play - so cant really predict - the mod is very popular, so well most likely with mod.

would this be no mods? im not sure how stable the game is , since i havent played in about a year and the new group require the NQmod and mappack which i cant use due to mac. but yeah id be down for that

How do I anitcipate this group to work?

If you quickly want a game. I think you will have to go and use NQ or the public Oceania Group.

I envisage this group for Players that want to play a good game and are prepared to schedule such a game in advance.

I think that announcing a game to be played, for example on Sunday and advertising it here in the announcements during the week, is a way this group can work.

Ideally this group is for Players like me that love good Civ-games and are content to play once a month (or more and less often).
