Brazil forbids DRM to block fair use!

One new step towards a DRM-Free World, Brazil has changed it copyright law to forbid DRM to restrict fair use. In other words:

"you can break DRM without breaking the law, provided you're not also committing a copyright violation. And what's more, any rightsholder who adds a DRM that restricts things that are allowed by Brazilian copyright laws ("fair dealing" or "fair use") faces a fine."

While this doesn't mean that Brazil won't have DRMed Games, it can be considered in one step towards it.

The White House's vision is perhaps a prelude to the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, which will go before Congress later this year. Allows the government to charge people who they think might be about to infringe with a civil offense (for example if you searched "torrent daft punk"). The bill also makes it a criminal offense to bypass DRM.

I strongly support the reasoning behind this group. If you are going to make a good game, don't make it suck the foreskin and put ♥♥♥♥♥♥ DRM into the product.
