TTT-FUN Community

Hey Everyone.

As you all may have noticed, the servers have been rather quiet of late. Bugs are constant, intense, and unmanaged. This is a serious issue that we've been facing for around a year, and yesterday something changed to assist us. As of now, I am stepping in as the primary server "manager", which is a long way of saying I'm stepping in as server owner. Theres still a question in everyones mind, and that is "well hank, how does that even help anything?", and that's a valid question.

Kevin, and I have been thinking on solutions for this for a while. We've come to several realizations.

One. The servers are mostly inactive. Wow, this is hard to see. Everyone was hopeful for a very long time, but with several issues involving server lag, activity, and our core population just plain getting bored of the game the servers have gone mostly inactive. We still have a few hundred unique players on the servers every month, but nothing compared to before. That does bring us to the primary issue, which is...

Two. Server lag. I'm sure you guys have noticed it, right? Lag. Lag gets you killed. Lag makes you miss that shot. Lag makes you freeze and lose your T-round. It's frustrating. It's an impending feeling of being trapped. It's inevitable, and when I'm on server I try to reassure people that I'm looking into it... and it gets better for a minute, but let me be clear. I have absolutely no idea why the servers lag so intensely, frequently, and for the duration they do. The best I can tell, the servers just do that. They lag. The maps add to it, for instance Footloose and Mystic do not have equal amounts of lag. Footloose has minor lag, while Mystic has tons of lag. Mystic has minecraft maps, which are INHERENTLY laggy. DarkRP just explodes after around an hour... I'm still baffled by that.

So, the question remains. "Whats the solution? Is there a plan?" Yes. There is a solution.

The nearest we can tell, the servers lag based on the years and years that they have existed. Code is piled on code. The best comparison is a computer. The more and more you use a computer, the slower and slower it gets. Sure, there is maintenance you can do to keep your computer running FAST, but eventually things just wear out. Servers are exactly the same. You eventually just need to buy a new computer.

Kevin had an amazing solution for this... a rebuild. Let's start with Mystic. Let's rebuild mystic... and he did it. steam://connect/192.223.26.249:27014

This is still in the BETA phases, but Kevin is hungry to add more. He WANTS your opinion on this, he wants to know things you want to see. Kevin rebuilt mystic FOR the ttt-fun community, and did minor to major improvements, and quality of life additions. However, to be clear... Things still need testing. People need to go on and test things. Weapons are strong, overpowered even. There is the chance to have more guns, more fun weapons, and funny things on mystic. Mystic has always been Vanilla with a twist. That's what we're reaching for, and your help would be appreciated.

Kevin runs a community called Ouroboros gaming. It's new, it's fresh, and it has a very active server owner who is probably one of the best Lua coders on the platform. He loves doing this, and hopefully you will enjoy his server. Kevin has formerly run the most popular Life is Feudal RP server, a wildly popular Arma 3 altis life server, and before that he ran the TTT-Fun Stranded server during the peak of server activity. Kevin has always been here, and has tried his best to help the community through the years even if he has acted like he doesn't care. No one would stick around this long if he didn't care in some way.

Currently, I have access to the server files. I will attempt to fix things, but things are outdated. Things have collapsed on Mystic, and the best option we have is a server rebuild. However, I'm not going to completely rule out fixing things here. I will try, but I want to encourage people to try Kevin's servers. I play on them regularly, and fully believe that Kevin has a vision for the future of his servers that the community has craved for years. He listens to bug reports, feature requests, and ideas. He wants you to share your thoughts. He WANTS community involvement. He wants a community that comes on to play games with eachother, and that's what TTT-Fun has been in the past, lets try to continue that for the future.

I want to encourage everyone to go to Kevin's site https://www.ouroborosgaming.net/ and sign up. Kevin is the owner of the community, I am the equivalent of the "head of staff", and Scotty will be a community manager there. This server also needs staff, and TTT-Fun staff members often have proven themselves effective problem solvers, and rational thinkers. I want to stress that Kevin's servers will be alive in six months, they will be there, and hopefully you will be on them. These servers are new, well constructed, and have a very active community owner who has a good head on his shoulders.

Ouroboros plans to have a DarkRP server, TTT servers, Prophunt, and maybe other gamemodes that the community wants. It already has two variants of TTT on it, one with M9K weapons, and one you will find very familiar with it being Mystic. This isn't just another spin off. This is the future of TTT-Fun.
