I was permanently banned while training my deep learning model using PyTorch in the background. The game's anti-cheat system (BattleEye) apparently detected the CUDA operations from PyTorch as suspicious activity and issued an automated ban.

While I understand the need for strong anti-cheat measures, the appeal process was extremely frustrating:

- No meaningful human review of the technical context
- Support claimed the ban was "confirmed" and "irreversible" without investigating the actual processes

As a developer working with machine learning, it's concerning that legitimate development tools can trigger false positives. If you're a developer or data scientist who needs to run background processes for work, be aware that you risk getting banned even if you're not cheating.

The worst part is that this leaves a permanent mark on your Steam account, even though it's a false positive.
